    WL' s rgb projection cube

As someone who works with projectors, I have thoughts though they may not be as relevant to someone just starting out with the hobby. I think this is a decent product for a very niche user but you need to have realistic expectations. There are several problems. 1. Scanners. The image quality...

New Laser Show - Takin' It Back

Here's my latest laser show. I'm pretty pleased with the result though the video doesn't do it justice. Everything is custom except for the few second appearance of the metronome (taken from a previous show using pangolin content.) I took a break from the hobby for a few months but I'm back...

How dangerous is a 200 mW red pointer?

As long as you understand that the beam will not be visible it's a good choice. It will probably be dimmer than a 5mw green laser. This makes the laser more dangerous in practice because it looks much weaker than it is. Be careful and enjoy the hobby.

My First Real Laser Show "Ignite"

I've got the laser out again! Working on new things. It's great to be back in the hobby!

    Cheap "Scanners"

I consider 25-30k the minimum for any real graphics IMHO. As Diachi mentioned, Goldenstar is rather infamous in the projector world. I have seen numerous threads regarding the AL15K scanners on another certain laser forum. I seem to recall someone claiming they had a set and only got around 8k...

    5000MW 650nm burning laser from Widelasers.com

Those reviews are pretty funny. Looks like some employee was forced to put one on every listing. Do they really expect to fool anybody? Also noticed that many listings include a “laser classification” list. To my knowledge, The descriptions do seem acurate to some degree. Probably intended as a...

    5000MW 650nm burning laser from Widelasers.com

Hey telephony. Hope it works out for you. It was a while ago that I got mine and this Chinese stuff is subject to change. Interestingly, the seller I got my laser from was called Ayobox. They used to have a website, and when I entered the URL, it took me to Laserpointerstore. Looks like they...

    5000MW 650nm burning laser from Widelasers.com

You might be able to send it back..., but it seems unlikely based on their advertising. This is why you should do your homework before buying lasers. 5w lasers at 650nm are very unusual, and the source would be a c-mount diode, and they are rarely used in portable lasers. Sorry you got burned...

My First Real Laser Show "Ignite"

If anyone's still around, check this out. This was an abstract show I made a while ago that I never bothered to post here for some reason. Mostly made using the pseudo-analog abstract generator in Pangolin's beyond. Check it out here

My name is actually Connor, not Nate. Sounds like someone else is getting that neat piece of kit. :) I totally agree that CalLEMS should come back. I once tried to organize an event in the bay area, but nothing ever became of it. If they do come back, my projector is waiting ;) I am already...
