    WTB: Laser in U.K

If you want to buy one then drop me a PM. I can either build you one from a kit available here on LPF or, as it happens, I have one I built myself for £190. M :)

    Looking for some advise

I should think it'd take quite a bit more than 1W at 60m. Not strictly true. It depends on both. What you're burning will determine how effective a particular wavelength is. 405nm, for instance, burns white paper much more effectively than 660nm for a given power output. We do agree that the...

READ AND HEED--this will effect all.(edit-OR maybe not at all)

Re: READ AND HEED--this will effect all. Surely, (and don't call me Shirley!), the drive for any government setting up to tax any enterprise would be the revenue they could generate. What is the annual turnover spent on handheld lasers and what sort of revenue could actually be gained from it...

    Looking for some advise

A beam expander is what you would need so in some ways it's like a sniper scope, however, this is not really going to get you instant cigar lighting. I also think that is the least of your problems... As you point out, the beam would be invisible, (to all intents and purposes), so how are you...

Can Aixiz ect lensen be cleaned with First Contact?

If, 'First Contact', is the same type of fluid used to clean dichros in projectors, i.e. you paint it on, leave it to dry then peal it away, then there is no reason why not. It shouldn't damage the coatings but will likely be difficult to apply without getting it everywhere else, and to remove...

    20amp 2.0v driver for 808nm diode bar - help !!

Easily done but the last post was about 10 months ago. Please check the date on posts else you'll be accused of necroposting. If you have a query about a dated thread, it may be best to PM the person rather than bring back a dead thread. M :)

    Noobs First Build PLZ HELP

Firstly, welcome to LPF. Tell us a little about yourself in the, 'Welcome', section. As to your request... In short it probably won't be worth it. You would have to change the driver as the output appears to be below 80mA, far short of the required 400 or so needed for the common LPC-815...

    First Laser Build Questions

10mA isn't too bad a resolution as long as you maintain restraint and don't push too hard. To preserve the LPC-826 diodes you have I would still keep to the 400s until you have a little more experience, (and there is more definitive testing done), and I don't mean to sound condescending. Even at...

    First Laser Build Questions

I think you answered the questions just fine. ;) Hmmm, yes, the graphs do show runs up to 600mA but that is under test conditions to find the maximums. Some have continued to lase at up to 650mA but I'm not certain this will turn out to be a, 'super', diode. Initially look to be a touch better...

okay, i cannot get this to work! HELP

If you don't get it working then you can send it to me if you like as I'm in the UK. If you can supply the instructions you have been given by jib and Jay then it shouldn't be a problem to resolve. I would practice your soldering though before attempting a repair or your next build. It really...

    First Laser Build Questions

^ Do not try going to 800mA please. @ random person - I think it was the intention of the OP to be buying cheap diodes to start with so they're unlikely to have been 445nm blues. It's also unlikely to have been a 445nm blue dying at 500mA. That is very low for them. 800mA is far to high though...

    808nm laser visibility

I don't like trolling, (as some will be aware!), and hate to side with someone that may be guilty of it but I have to post this... Visible red light from 940nm led laser The whole page is sort of interesting, certainly relevant, but it's the last post that is telling. From Roithner Lasers...

    First Laser Build Questions

Welcome to world of murdering laser diodes! It happens to us all. You have turned your laser diodes into LEDs! Or, your laser diodes have LEDed, to use the vernacular... I'm guessing from the current these were LPC-815 diodes? 660nm reds commonly called the LOC, (Long Open Can)? Do you have...

    Help on dyi

^ I think the OP will probably have sorted a heatsink by now. The last post before yours was from March last year. It's an easy mistake to make but keep an eye on the date of the post you're replying to. M :)

    I don't understand

^Nice pic Dave, (credit to Rog of course), thanks. I've included it in my guide! Hi BTW... Been a while, I hope you're well. M :)

    Guess the Movie

If I was ever going to make a film about a veteran Nascar driver with nothing left to lose, planning to drive right across the US in a stupidly short amount of time for a bet, whacked out of his head on amphetamines and crash into a huge bulldozer then I'd call it... ... Vanishing Point...

    I don't understand

In the picture posted above it fits into the part to the right of the spring in the disassembled view, [EDIT: good call bluuray!]. It is press fit into this part from the right hand side. You can see a demonstration of how to fit the diode in the, "I Want to Build a Laser", link found in my sig...

Totaly new to this stuff, need some help please please please.

You may have already seen it but check out the guide in my sig below, (the one that is still working!). It's got a lot of the information you'll need inside, with links to all kinds of useful stuff, like pinouts for various diodes, etc... This thread reads like you'll be lasering in no time so...

    Visible green laser??

There are many prepared to build but the fun is in the making yourself. There are several good kits available from the site. Check out the, "Pro Shop", "B/S/T", sections for these. The starting tools TJ mentions above are all you need to get going and see, "First Light". It get's a bit more...
