Like Steve said it wouldn’t work that well, but if you didn’t duel to harshly than I’d suppose a laser diode would be ok. I wouldn’t try it though, like Steve said LEDs less expensive and much more durable. Although, are you hellbent on building this lightsaber yourself? If not I can send a link...

Hey, what’s a complete list of parts to build a <500mw 405nm laser? I would really appreciate an instructional video to put together the parts. And I’m definitely open to JAD kits but I can’t find them. Btw I’m not electronic savvy so please be patient with me. Target price is under $100 Thanks.
