WTB red 635-638 hi-power used LD (read)

You could ask joeybab3 about where he's getting his for $120. I'm not sure if you'd want that new Mitsubishi anyway. Two split beams would be an even bigger pain to correct. You'd be better off spending the money on optics to knife-edge with the cheaper Oclaros, or correction optics to produce...

    FEELER CNI 561nm 5mW pointers.

Re: FEELER: CNI rare/special wavelength <5mw pointer GB, low prices! Oh I'm sure they're not intending on it being over 5mW, but these are DPSS units and something as simple as warming it up will change the power output. They'd need to add additional power-control circuitry to really force it...

    NUBM44 6W+ 450nm Laser Diode

I feel a lot better that someone like doughboi916 is trying to build a laser with a high-powered diode. It's much better than someone just buying some high-powered pre-made laser from some company like WL or even from a member here (if they're not informing the buyers of safety precautions)...

    Purposely looked at 50mw laser...

I'm a bit skeptical that you could even force yourself to keep looking into the beam even if you wanted to.

    noob needs some expert guidance

Why don't you post what you have come up so far on your own, and we can help you go from there.

    RGB-Lumia safety

No, I would not trust those goggles. Those goggles are only EN166 / ANSI 287.1 certified, which is for generic eye protection (impact, etc.) -- not laser eye protection, which is a different set of certifications (EN207 / ANSI Z136). It is common for companies to post those non-relevant...

Less expensive alternative to Newport .5 inch adjustable mirror platform?

I've usually bought my mounts via eBay. The problem is that particular model is exceptionally small. If you can get away with something bigger, you can usually get them for a decent price. Maybe something like this? It's $21 and 3cm x 3cm in size -- twice the dimensions of the one listed...

    FEELER CNI 561nm 5mW pointers.

Re: FEELER: CNI rare/special wavelength <5mw pointer GB, low prices! The last time I got one those CNI "5mW" 473nm handhelds it would usually put out 15mW after warming up. So you'll probably get an overspec laser. That was for $315 back when Scopeguy was hosting GBs. These prices here are...

    NUBM44 6W+ 450nm Laser Diode

The 3-element lenses are just what we get from those Chinese manufacturers. You'd probably need to buy/source some lenses to tune anything, which would be expensive and require some manufacturing of rings, etc. to space them out nicely. You'd probably be better off using a G-series lens and...

    GRIN Lens

Well they are designed for that wavelength, so there would be some problems (or differences) with the light guiding properties of the fibers. The real problem is whether anyone could really do anything with these. You'd need a good quality positioner and mounts for the pigtails, which could be...

    Selling my 473nm

Wow, you're selling that pretty cheap. I don't need one, but that's a nice laser for the price.

    ISIS the terror machine

Meh, polls are the lowest form of data. Is the sample set really representative of the Muslims in these countries? That DOHA poll polled 600 respondents in seven countries and then some Syrian refugees. Do these poll operators even have access to large geographic areas? Is extrapolation...

    Sold: 2W 445nm laser

Re: Gonna sell all Can you bump less frequently? Like maybe twice a week or something? It's not like your thread is falling off the bottom of the BST page.

    I was denied a laser!

Some of the replies probably didn't have to be so harsh; however, your posts don't exactly inspire confidence in people that you're a worthy candidate for owning and using a laser, let alone going through the effort of trafficking contraband across international borders. Also if you have only...

PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please sub

Re: PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please DTR sells those lens blanks and the G9 lenses too. With a little work, you could mount one yourself for pretty cheap, and they typically outperform the G2 lenses.

PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please sub

Re: PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please Those single G-type lenses will probably work roughly the same. Most of benefit from those G-lenses comes from the fact that they have such a short focal length and therefore more of the light coming out of...

    neg rep happy?

This is not a kindergarten where people are trying to preserve the self-esteem of kids. A lot of the neg-repped posts are of pretty dubious or disinformative value, and others are for less-than-classy behavior. Anyway, I'd rather see more critical rep votes than all these inane "high-five!"...

PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please sub

Re: PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please Those twin beam diodes are a big disappointment to me. It's pain enough taming the ultra-wide bar of the regular high-powered 638nms, but having two separate beams kind of defeats the purpose of having a single...

Help repairing laser pointer from 1998

You can try cleaning off that corrosion with some vinegar, and then neutralizing that with some baking soda. Rinse it off with some distilled water and/or alcohol, make sure everything is dry and then clean up/resolder the solder-joints that were affected.

Focused LED instead of a traditional LD

Yeah, even if the LED and the CO2 laser were outputting the same amount of watts of light, the CO2 laser's wavelength being in the deep infrared -- heat -- area of the spectrum means that more materials will absorb that light. Even between lasers of different wavelengths (650nm vs 405nm) of the...
