yea the lm317 wil do just fine its more then stable enouch the drive a laser diode when diode current is properly set

sure u can use the ir diode and yes 400 mA should be ok however i would start at 300 and work your way up

yep u need a driver that switches the  + side of the diode not the - else your going to blowup your diodes in a dual setup since both diodes  have a comon ground or  - most wel known drivers switch the diode on the nagative side not the positive. there is also a other way to resolve this...

it burns just fine the bare beam is enouch to burn very well but ofcourse if u want to focus it even beter u can use a external lens

probably works fine but i would recomend the aixiz one the cost about the same but the aixiz one has decent kwality and is in most cases over powerd mine 50 mw did 110 mw see te review in the review section

love the laser but its not a real big deal to use it to burn tape ;) when properly focuses it should easely burn wood plastic thin metal and even glas
