    My first attempt.

Thank you. I don't know where I could find a good WATT meter that I could afford. It would need to read 2w. to 20w? for my purpose. The duty cycle is 2-3 sec. for test and 6 sec. for burn test.. Ed.

    My first attempt.

Hello. I have made a simple unit to start with. Consisting of a 445nm diode and powered by a 2.3 amp X-Drive V6. The battery is a Tenergy 3.7v/250ma. 20c Li-Polymer. Also shown is the beam combining prism I intend to use on the next step. I know this is simple and crude compared with what I have...

    Multiple diodes.

Hello. Has anyone used two 2.4A to 2.5A laser driver 445nm and 808nm Constant Current 4mode to power two Nichia NDB7875 445nm 9mm Laser Diodes. If so how do you switch modes? Do you have to switch modes for both or will one work? Thank you. Ed.

    Multiple diodes.

Thank you for sharing your work. A beautiful design and machining. I will try your idea of copper/ aluminum for the mount/heat sink. But I don't expect to use more than a beam combining cube and three lenses. The alignment will be done hopefully by careful setup during the machining. Ed.

    Multiple diodes.

Hello. Well, if you don't think it will help I'll not bother with the plating. Thank you.

    Multiple diodes.

Thank you. I can machine a solid copper one, and then heavy plate it in gold as well. As soon as I can finish the components, I will try and post photos of them. Ed.

    Multiple diodes.

Hello.I want to use one power supply and two 3A "ADJ" SXB-2 (Super X-Boost) drivers to power the two diode lasers. Ed.

    Multiple diodes.

Hello. Thank you for your comment. I am thinking of trying the DuraTrax LiPo 7.4V Onyx 5000mAh 25C Hard Case Battery as my power source. I'm not looking for long duration, only for a few seconds for demonstration purposes. Ed.

    Multiple diodes.

Hello. Is it possible to mount two Nichia NDB7875 445nm 9mm Laser Diodes into one heat sink? ( Where the body of the diodes are all connected.) I am machining a heat sink block from solid brass and mounting a beam combiner cube prism. I want to use separate drivers with a common lithium ion...

    Fiber optic getting hot

Would anyone know how to cut a glass fiber optic bundle? And is there a way to polish the ends afterward?
  12. E

    Fiber optic getting hot

Yes. The faces were not polished properly nor were the fibers meshed together correctly. Plus I am trying to push 9+ watts through them. Ed.

    Fiber optic getting hot

Sure! I'm working on the "host" at the moment, But as soon as I have anything on the fiber optics I'll post it here. Ed.

    Fiber optic getting hot

It melted after two seconds exposure. I will try glass fibers if I can find a bundle fine enough to work. Thank you for your interest. Ed.

    Press fitting 9mm diode

    Thank you for your help.

    Press fitting 9mm diode

I am not sure how to ask this, Would someone tell me the precise dimensions for press-fitting a 445nm M140 Diode? I am machining a copper mount and can't find the information to make a press-fit. Thank you for any help you can give. Ed.

Possible cooling for pocket-size burning lasers?

I intend to use a very small reserve chamber and a series of tiny jets to take advantage of it's relatively high pressure. In case anyone can't find the information on setting up the blower, a friend just e-mailed it to me: www.mouser.com/pdfdocs/MurataMicroblowerDriverInfo.pdf Hope this helps...

    Fiber optic getting hot

Thank you very much. I'm going to try it out. Ed.

    Fiber optic getting hot

hello. Can anyone tell me if plastic fiber optic filaments (1.5mm. dia.) in a bent length 1" long can handle the 445nm. 1 watt laser diode without melting? Thank you. Ed.

    15 watt c-mount power supply.

I thought the LM338T I'm using in a modified DLL circuit could handle 20 watts. I just need the resistor values for a 15 watt C-mount diode laser. Ed.
