    hello

Holly cow Encap, would you like me to reload that shotgun for you? 😉 This complete and utter mentalist, and even though I had already answered him here, PM’d me a few days ago with the same issue, so have no doubt, he is trolling us. For once, I am in total agreement with your usual no quarter...

    The Zeus are here!

Yeah, I can envision many catastrophic failures before I reach my eureka moment. I though I might have to buy a few cheap donor lasers to begin with, but then I remembered what I have in the attic. So, I think those will be a good starting point. Once I unlock the secrets of building a good...

    Hello 🖐 from Tennessee

May be a good idea to reinstate it if at all possible 😉 I literally nearly went nuts trying to work multi-quoting out. ‘So, a HUGE thank you for posting how to do it. 👍

    Hello 🖐 from Tennessee

Thank you Paul. So that’s how you do it... I was going crazy looking for the miti-quote button I am used to in other forums. 😂

Unfortunatel, they’re not easily available in the u.k... so, more import charges which I hate to pay just on principle. I literally have like maybe 15 cd-rw’s and about 5 portable cd players. I think It will be fun to pull them, and not too upsetting when I fry them experimenting. 😉

    Goggles from laserpointerstore safe?

While I generally agree with you, one must be carful not to call multi watt mass produced lasers toy anything. Some moron out there could easily think they are harmless, which they’re must certainly aren’t. Perhaps, low quality is sufficient to describe them or, if you want to make people feel...

    The Zeus are here!

Thank you Paul. I am a bit of a hoarder and have quite a few portable CD players in the attic dating back from the 80’s. Also, even more computer cd readers/writers from the 90’s and onwards. I guess I can always mine a few from that stock to start with. Cheers.

Thank you Snecho. You make it sound like I am leaving the forums, that’s not the case, I will be very much around. Just not posting questions that have been answered ad-nausea. Ok while you are very new I guess but, I am now more familiar with the search options, and I don’t want to bore the...

    The Zeus are here!

I am not sure what I will be purchasing in the future. I am, however, very likely to start my self builds with very low power levels, probably and jut to be safe while I am learning, in the sub 5mw range or even lower. Thank you all for answering my newbie questions, which you guys must be...

    hello

I don’t think you have permanent retina damage. Having said that, I am not a doctor and the information I have given you regarding UV harmful effects is really common knowledge. My advise is: If you think you eyes have been damaged (unlikely that it is) you should go to an eye specialist and...
  13. ManCave

    hello

We have already answered your question. If you are going to expose your eyes to direct LED UV sources, I will strongly advise you to read this. https://electronics.stackexchange.com/questions/123674/are-uv-leds-really-dangerous
  14. ManCave

    hello

While not particularly dangerous at low levels. Prolonged exposure to UV rays and UV emitting devices, will damage your vision over time and, may lead to macular degeneration, it can also cause some kinds of cataracts. Hence, uv blocking sunglasses and profesional safety google‘s. I own a...

    The Zeus are here!

🤔 That’s quite the curveball you threw there! I had not taken it into consideration and you are right, as I advance into this hobby, I am sure not all my purchases or self builds will be high power. More to think about now. Thank you Paul. Cheers

    The Zeus are here!

Yes, technology does move along fast, and I think we all have gone through upgrades at some stage to keep up. That’s why I want to buy something as future proof as I can (but I’ve always done that). I will also check the buy and sell sub-forum and keep an eye for a good deal there. @GSS I...

    The Zeus are here!

Thank you Snecho. Yes, that’s one of the options I am looking at but, the final cost once we add shipping and customs chargers are firmly pushing on the brakes. Cheers!

    The Zeus are here!

Thank you Paul. I am more in the buy once save twice camp. I would much rather buy an LPM device I can grow into vs outgrowing it. I did a lot of looking around before deciding on the Zeus lasers, and thought they were the right balance for my first medium -high power units. I am also not yet...
