    1W Blue Laser vs. Thermometer!

Are we going to rate lasers by "soups and popcorn" now? Maybe the "Campbell's Laser Scale".

Any stores in the U.S that sell laser's?

Survival Lasers is distributing to a couple of stores, I think. Edmund Scientific used to have a "walk in store" a few years ago, and they sell lasers.

O-like new Crown upgrade 400mW green laser torch/adjustable/waterproof

You can see their metering from a link in this post: http://laserpointerforums.com/f52/review-100mw-grenade-532-lazerer-65755.html#post945157 It looks like they at least REPORT to you (the customer) the output before/after IR filtering. Maybe further reviews will firm up (or lower) expectations.

O-like new Crown upgrade 400mW green laser torch/adjustable/waterproof

(I'm slow tonight, so I better use a quote) (EDIT yes I had a feeling that 1 more post might sneak in between the one I was referencing) Yes; agonized over the decision a little (405 vs 445), but back in June I told myself that I would "work myself up by hazard level", thus making the 445nm...

O-like new Crown upgrade 400mW green laser torch/adjustable/waterproof

timing ... I've already committed my money / plans to getting a 405nm, and then a 445nm (both from Survival Laser). I realize I could get these two wavelengths cheaper, but if I get the SL kits, then I KNOW what is inside of them, and I KNOW that I can put in thermal paste. After that, when I...

O-like new Crown upgrade 400mW green laser torch/adjustable/waterproof

I've been following what people have been saying about "Lazerer"; I love my 200mw green (from O-Like), but I wouldn't mind getting a higher powered green for even more visibility (after I fill out my collection to 1x 405nm and 1x 445nm). I also hope that Lazerer "pans out" as a good supplier...

    WAAAY overspec 20mW from rayfoss.

I've only been into this hobby for a couple of months, resulting in the purchase of 4 lasers (2x Class 3A, 2x Class 3B, and other laser-related things), and it is burning a hole in my wallet too.

    LIA Press Release

First, from the viewpoint of a seller, write the LIA with your views. They will of course say " ... well ... you sell these things for a profit ... "; but to me, the LIA seems like they might be influential on this issue, and they need to be contacted. Be forthright, honest, propose workable...

    FREAK 12x 405nm Diode. 1W "1000mW" <<< "Yes you Read it Right" :D

Re: FREAK 12x 405nm Diode. "940mW" <<< "Yes you Read it Right" Lazeerer; Thanks for answering my question (re: "How rare is it?"). I'm still relatively new at this hobby, and I learn something new almost every time I log on. Ok, then... if it is bound to have a short life no matter what, when...

Filling Out My Rainbow with a Purchase

Wolfman; Just to be clear... I was assuming that this laser Scopeguy is offering you is a laserglow: (I might be wrong)

    FREAK 12x 405nm Diode. 1W "1000mW" <<< "Yes you Read it Right" :D

Re: FREAK 12x 405nm Diode. "940mW" <<< "Yes you Read it Right" (from the viewpoint of a relative newbie); How often do "freak" diodes like this occur? Who manufactured it? *IF* it were mine, I would NOT push it just to attempt to get it to 1W. I would keep it. If it's an "unholy mutant" from a...

    Did I miss something? 1300mW 532nm handheld

Hmmm... it isn't just a typo, they really are representing this as a 1.3W green... They deliberately post a highlighted blurb... beginning with "What you are viewing is the elite..." It doesn't SEEM like a "blatant rip-off"; I have no experience with DinoDirect, I know from the forum here that...

Filling Out My Rainbow with a Purchase

(Wolfman29 / scopeguy20) That's the first reference that I looked up; LaserGlow. (Too expensive for MY meager budget). If it's LaserGlow, it should be good though (I have one excellent buying experience from them). Probably IR filtered. (?) >20mw yellow should make a nice fairly visible beam, I...

1W 447nm Spartan Trial and Error

First I need to correct myself; just a silly typo; I meant 660nm. I don't have an LPM, but you are right, it might be interesting to compare the 445nm glare from "lampblack" to the glare from a common everyday object (like a white wall... for as long as the paint lasts!). The top surface of...

what are cool things to shine lasers at to make interesting reflections?

Some time ago I was thinking; vegetable oil and glitter. Heat the vegetable oil (SLIGHT heat... less than "warm" ... just enough to impose currents / flows). I'm looking forward to our next snowfall now that I have lasers. IF Texas doesn't erupt in flame by then. :scowl:

    Need help with something please..

I started ordering nitroglycerin tablets from a company in Canada a little while back. Technically illegal, because Pfizer/Nitrostat is PRESCRIPTION ONLY here in the USA, but "OTC" (over the counter) in Canada. So far I have done it once, successfully. I got a bottle of 100 tablets, and will...

    Just ordered a 2,200mw 445nm blue laser!

Jacob / I.E.; Yes, IR lasers come to mind. The old discussion here - irresponsibility. Probability dictates that sooner or later, SOME jerk will try it AND get the resources to do it (a powerful IR laser)... and pop tires and crash blimps. When it hits the news, I hope I miss the broadcast.

    405nm brightness and prescription glasses

I JUST RECIEVED the 3x Uranium Marbles that I ordered (from United Nuclear) this morning when the mail came... also received the 385nm "black light pen" that I ordered from them. I don't have a 405nm laser yet. They flouresce real nice with the black light penlight - a bright green. There are...

    Suicide Thread

I donate because I want to help the forum. I just got into this laser hobby... I checked out another laser forum and didn't like it (as much as this one). If this forum went permanently offline, I would feel a little lost.

    Just ordered a 2,200mw 445nm blue laser!

I guess I am a suspicous old fuddyduddy. If someone asked me "Hey! Can you pop a tire with your laser?" ... I would say "WHY should I care about popping tires? Are you the kind of person that needs to be 'watched'?"
