I think the recession may have something to do with it. Anyway, parts on this is $150 so given the amount of work $200 is a good deal imho.

Its the virtual village AR lens - they offer greater throughput than the AixiZ AR glass lenses not least because the AixiZ uses three spherical elements. The virtual village lens uses just the one element, and its likely aspheric as a result (thats a good thing)

Yeah, thats a standard red beam diameter. Just the host is low diameter too ;)

The minichrome uses a single AAA format 10440 Li-ion battery 3.7V due to its ...well, mini size ;)

Yes, the virtual village is a single element AR lens with outstanding performance in all respects. I use this in preference to anything else. As for the price its a deal, if you consider the effort in making something this small out of one piece copper then well...Fitting the diode requires...

Thanks, I like to polish aluminium to a mirror shine. Its one of the better addictions to have. :)

Minichrome red build, one piece Cu sink. 280mW at 650nm So, here we have a minichrome build that uses a single piece of precision turned copper to form the sink and to house the laser diode, driver etc. The lens nut threads directly into the sink. Complete with Flexdrive 4.0, schottky diode...
