Sink&host combos for green laser modules (o-like)

Re: Sink&host combos for green laser modules (o-like) Yes thats right, $95 stainless full polish Its very simple: Insert module into sink, insert sink into host. Grub screws are used to lock the module in the sink, the sink is pressed into the host. The aperture cap from brass is pressed...

Both are good. Buy both ;). Seriously, I'd just go with whatever does it for you aesthetically.

Sink&host combos for green laser modules (o-like)

Re: Sink&host combos for green laser modules (o-like) The stainless host costs me another $10. Plus its hard material and a real pita to machine and then polish.

So what happens when someone wants a build which takes 4-5 hours to complete? Are you really going to work for $2 an hour?

A clear coat doesn't seem to be necessary. It justs stays shiny. :D I have another of these in a grey host available.

Minichrome, one piece Cu sink. 280mW at 650nm

I use 450mA through the LD for 280mW output, sometimes up to 300mW. The copper sink is one piece only and is sunk to the case so once the case warms up (if at all) you know to let it cool for a bit. But it takes a while on a hot day for the case to warm up. Use a colon and then a right.close...

Oh, yes thats doable. The stainless hosts are very hard and difficult to cut even with carbide - so I prefer to use aluminium host (grey/black) when cutting the host. But yes is the answer provided the CR2 diameter is not too great.

A CR2 won't fit, the 10440 battery it takes is the same size as an AAA.

Ok, so here is a size comparison to the Romisen. Length is actually not dissimilar, its the diameter where things get interesting.

Do you mean just the host and heatsink? The host is $20 from deal extreme. The sink by itself would be about $40 but I reuse parts from the host for the battery terminal so they are best sold with the host which brings it to $60.

I've sent you a pm. This laser now has a new owner but I intend to make another as its a great design. However you will need to convince me that your able to responsibly own this potentially dangerous device as I don't want an unqualified individual owning it.
