As long as you use a driver the diode won't burn out. But it also depends on the input voltage though. Make sure it's 3.7v because that's what the 18650's usually supply.

Yeah The big difference is the size... (and price, and obviously the physics since the direct greens aren't infrared diodes) Thats why I'm looking forward to smaller green builds.
