    Home made Drivers vs.

Hmm... Well, I don't think there is an IC like that in a through-hole package. What I'm thinking now is that it's definitely possible, but it requires you to wind your own toroid, and the component count goes up considerably. I'll have a stab at it today.

    Home made Drivers vs.

Welcome to the forums, Cad602 :) The main advantage of laser drivers you can buy seems to be size and convenience. There are other ICs you can use to make constant-current drivers suitable for laser diodes. The one I'm looking at now is the LM2621, which is capable of boosting, so you can drive...

Cheap Stuff FS: LPC+PHR sleds, 40W IR Module, and More

styropyro: Is the FAP any good for DPSS purposes? I know I have very few posts, but I've been active on laserchat for quite a while.

    Scary incident

I'm gonna speak out here against the advice to carry a gun. Don't. Do you know what kind of things happen in jail?

Eek! Good to hear you're unharmed and lost no cash.

    PHR-803T Sled Lens

the15thwiseone: The optics in the PHR sled are dichroic mirrors and beam splitters, and I think there's a diffraction grating as well. I'm not sure what you mean by "beam contaminator". The collimation and focusing lenses are not very useful; you're better off using a standard aixiz acrylic...

    Hotlights PHR at 106mA

100mW of any wavelength burns the same? You sure about that? ;)

    Hotlights PHR at 106mA

405nm tends to burn better than longer wavelengths, because it has higher energy per photon. They don't use red or IR in tanning salons, do they? :P Silvershot: I'm not such a fan of the hotlights host, but it looks like a nice build :gj:

If only one end of the capacitor is connected, then it's useless.

    FS: Laser Parts

I got my wire today! Well, I got some green instead of red, because I got the last 8' of red, but that's not a problem :P This stuff is great! Thanks, Flaminpyro!

    1.2W RGB- Build and worklog

If I were you, I'd adjust the layout so as not to require the mirror, but that's just me. It's certainly a nice and roomy case, have fun transporting that :P

    Pink Laser 500mW

Low-Q: Ultraviolet light is not actually black, some people simply call it that because it's shorter than UV and sounds cool. IR is also invisible, but nobody calls that "black".

    Pink Laser 500mW

hydguy: I think it's called something like perception of relative luminance. If, for example, you project a white rectangular box (with a hollow inside) on to your white screen, the inside will look black, but the portion of the screen that is outside the projection area will look also look...

    neewbie from syd australia

Y'all should head on over to #laserchat on irc.ecnet.org, if you're familiar with IRC. Myself and most of the other LPF Sydneysiders hang out there. Normally there's an easy web-chat interface at laserchat.org, but that seems to be down at the moment.
