Nikon D90 - Do you have one?

I don't own a D90, but its on my shopping list (when I fall into some money). I've played with a few, and other Nikons, and the D90 is fantastic. The image quality you get with the D90 is probably the best value you can get from a Nikon camera at the moment, and the movies it shoots are...

FS: 405-G-1 Glass Lens Mod - 31% Increase vs AixiZ!

Re: FS: 405-G-1 Glass Lens Mod-28% Increase vs Aix Argh! I knew I should have waited till my heatsink was made... I was trying to pre-empt the case where I impatiently put it all together and wish I had a better lense. Still looking forward to receiving it.

    New ads in threads.

Personally, with the number of huge animated signatures that people use on these forums, I didnt even notice the ads.

    Importing Laser Diodes to Australia

correct, the restriction is against laser 'pointers' only. You can import complete lab lasers and modules, but nothing that is portable and ready to use out of the box.

    Pioneer 8X Blu-Ray-- BDR-203

Good job! Just don't try to burn any blu-rays obviously, or you'll smoke that diode!

Re: How do I set the power for the FlexDrive using I know I shouldn't reply to this but what the hell... Kloan, Nobody in this thread has done anything except try to help you, so try to show a bit of respect. You were given the best advice you could have received, but in fact it is YOUR self...

How to: Violet Auto/Manual contolled Spirograph

Re: How to: Violet Auto/Manual contolled Spirograp Yeah they look back surfaced. I think that 'mass' is a glue gun tip that is in desperate need of a cleaning.

    Blue ray diode issue

Any 1N400x series diode will work.

Disassemble New Wish Greenie (DX Pen)

The silver cap thing needs to be pulled out. Its a very tight fit but it's not threaded or anything. A vice will be required at a minimum and unless you're very careful, you'll wreck the finish on either the tip or the black casing. Once the tip is off, you can carefully push the module out from...

Re: How do I set the power for the FlexDrive using

Re: How do I set the power for the FlexDrive using I will tell you exactly how to do it. Put your DMM on current measuring mode and put it in series with your diode. I will also tell you that if you disconnect this circuit with the power on, your flexdrive will fry. If you accidentally...

Re: How do I set the power for the FlexDrive using

Re: How do I set the power for the FlexDrive using This is quite basic and I am feeling generous, so I present to you, on a silver platter, how to set your flexdrive with a DMM. Make a test load from 3 or 4 1N400x series diodes (4001, 4004, 4007 etc all work) and a small value resistor, all in...

    Star Wars Mosquito Laser?

The system works just fine, it is not incredibly costly nor very difficult. It detects the mosquitos shadow on the screen and the laser is more than capable of tracking it. Questioning whether it works or not was stupid in the first place, as reading the article explains everything.

    What is 1500mJ in mW

Watts is joules per second. You know joules, so you also need to know the seconds to be able to convert it. Once you find out how many seconds the pulse is (likely to be measured in nanoseconds, in which case multiply by 10^-9), then: 1.5/s = Watts As an example, take that 532nm laser that...

    Star Wars Mosquito Laser?

It kills mosquitos that fly between a laser and a screen, so unless you stick your head in there it's quite safe.

Ever accidently shined a laser in your eye?

Yes, that is the worry. I wouldn't recommend anyone try it without verifying the output of the laser. I have used a 5mW red and 5mW green and got good results but again, it's really up to you to research it and make sure there is minimal risk. I am not a specialist so don't trust me. That being...

Ever accidently shined a laser in your eye?

I did once, which led to me purposely shining a laser in my eye... I accidentally caught a 5mW red laser in the white of my eye, and it lit up my vision in a peculiar way, so I tried it again. If you get it at the right angle, it lights up the entire inside of your eye and casts shadows on...

    Star Wars Mosquito Laser?

Uhh, yes? Perhaps it is a bit ambitious to hope to wipe out malaria, but lasers can definitely be controlled by a computer to kill mosquitos.

    IgorT 170 mW 6x

Not another intellectual property discussion.... I've worked out how to fit a momentary side switch in mine, I'm just curious how others have done it as the aixiz + flexdrive is a very tight fit, and the end tube needs more than 6 turns to fully seat (so you need long connecting wires)

    IgorT 170 mW 6x

I have a host almost identical to this, that I am waiting on a machined part for to complete. Can you post some details how you arranged everything in the tiny cavity?

Group Buy: Machined Aluminium Laser Hosts

I didn't plan to reply to this thread, but anyway: I'm glad to see there are a few sensible people here that actually understand what I was trying to do, but due to the response Ive gotten here I won't be going ahead with it. I can't risk $600 hoping that I can sell the ones I won't use. To...
