Blue Ray DVD Writer - Diode Harvest

Re: Blue Ray Diode Harvest? Cool. Let me know which one you pick. I hear you on the switch. I like the thinness of the cr123 type, but I dislike having the button on the tail. Anyways, good luck, and I look forward to pictures....

I'll give you a slightly more detailed version. 1. Order blu-ray laser carriage from Psxboy.com for $30. 2. Order Aixiz module from Mfgcn.com or their ebay store for ~$4. 3. Buy 9v battery. 4. Search the forum for Daedal circuit (AKA DDL circuit) 5. Buy all items from Radio SHack or...

make super clean cuts on laser hosts

I agree. I have been using my Unibit (the small one, #1?) since I got it in 1993, and it still works great, and I used to use it all the time installing car stereos and alarms at a major electronics chain, drilling holes in cars for antennas, etc. Its nice cause you can drill a hole, try it out...

Input Needed for Next Project Idea

Don't forget about relays, they are your friend when you want to use small switches with higher currents, plus with all the available types, they can sometimes solve other problems.

    is this ok

As suggested in most threads, use the 100 ohm as the dummy load. Then with your meter set to DC volts. The one with a line and some dots above it (NOT the ~), at the lowest setting. You will usually have one something like .. -- 20V Use that one. then you can take your...

    LM317T

Good price. BTW, when I was reading the description, I glanced over their typo and thought it said VOLTAGERANCE. I thought they made up a Bushism (George Bush word). :)

    Blue Ray Parts

I am thinking for my next one, I will look at one of the DX MXDL flashlights that hold 3 cr123s, and custom make something for the front end. I think I may end up buying a cheap harbor freight lathe, with all the stuff i've been wanting to make lately.

Anyone use heat pipes for cooling LD?

I was thinking that a heat pipe would be good for cooling an LD, as it could be made pretty small, and could benefit from the length of a flashlight/pen type host. Has anyone else experimented with this?

    did i kill my diode?

I installed car stereos/alarms/cell phones for several years, so I have a TON of soldering experience. ANd I still use these $2 heatsink pliers when soldering any small componenents that I don't want to risk damaging. Clip these on RIGHT next to the laser diode, and solder the capacitor to the...

Re: Light to Frequency converter/sensr at Radio SH Yeah, i believe it says that it output square wave. I was just curious if we could do something interesting with it and a laser.

    CCSP boot camp

Nice. I got my CCNA a long time ago, but never renewed it. It was back int he days where you got promotions/raises for more acronyms behind your name. I had like 8 or 9 different certs, Microsoft, Sun, Cisco, Citrix, etc. Do you have routers/switches you can use? Or at least have the router...

Blue Ray DVD Writer - Diode Harvest

Re: Blue Ray Diode Harvest? I have a 33 ohm resistor and 100 ohm pot on my blu-ray pointer, just because I wanted more longevity. So yeah, definitely a good idea on that. Or maybe 2 pots? One to make a variable max current, and one to adjust the actual current.

Blue Ray DVD Writer - Diode Harvest

Re: Blue Ray Diode Harvest? I remember when the first DVD burners were available and they were over $1200. HEck I even remember when CD burners were ~$900, and people talking about being able to make their own CDs. So yeah, they will come down in time. Part of the problem with this kind of...
