*Curious* Which is the most difficult wavelength to produce?

Are you talking handheld or in general? "Difficult" is a loose term when form factor and money are no object. Maybe you should scope this to handheld, self contained lasers in the visible range as a better question... or was that implied? /c

    Messier 27

I think you might be surprised at how much telescope you can get for the money these days… Especially if you buy used. I also think you might be even more surprised when you realize that bigger is not always better and astrophotography. :)

    Messier 27

It was tracked on an EQ mount through a telescope, but not with much more magnification than a long telephoto camera lens. I cropped the photo quite a bit. This was 40 lights and 37 darks - 180s each at ISO400. I think there are 25 or so bias frames, but no flats.

    Messier 27

Messier 27, or the Dumbbell Nebula (NGC 6853) is a planetary nebula in the constellation Vulpecula, at a distance of about 1,360 light years. This object was the first planetary nebula to be discovered; by Charles Messier in 1764. It is sometimes also referred to as the Apple Core Nebula. /c

First Attempt at Astrophotography! Critique me :P

Congrats on a great first outing! There are light pollution filters available for AP, but the selection has a lot to do with what you are imaging through... had you gone with the Canon EOS body, Astonomik makes a CLS clip-in filter that goes inbetween the body and the standard camera lens that...
