What if some of dem der flying saucers....

I'm not saying all of them, to be honest, I've seen some weird stuff in our skies. Just some of them. I was watching some ufo show and the footage they had reminded me of when I'm playing with kaleidoscope lens in the backyard. Made me wonder how many people thought those bright green dots...

What if some of dem der flying saucers....

What if some of the UFO's we have seen, are really just some dude or dudette, with an extremely high powered laser set up, spinning their kaleidoscope lens. How fun would that be? 25Mw capacitor bank all holed up in the barn, powered by a gasifier fueling an old orion, coupled up to a giant...

    $20 scope whaoooo!!!

That sounds like something I would buy on impulse. lol. I'm also a huge freak for early era carnival glass. I kinda feel like I am preserving history when I buy really old and rare stuff. I'm never going to sell any of it, I just like having it. The real question is, do you still have it? lol

I have completed 3 pen builds, 405nm 150mw, 445-450nm 4000mw, and 532nm 100mw. While burning things at 10 feet while lying in bed is rather cool, I much prefer the 532nm pen. Not only is the 532nm the brightest of the three, it's just really a sweet color.

I could have done this all way, way, way, cheaper ( $200 if this was gonna be a hobby level). This is for a tiny business, so I need reliability and longevity. I now have multiple modules build for different substrates, with corresponding best wavelength laser diode. Now I am able to keep the...

Hopefully it is capable of doing what I designed it for, continuous running. So far testing has been very positive, over 100 hours of running and no noticeable difference in power or depth of engraving into glass.

This will allow me to monitor the board for any weird stuff, maybe enabling me to replace it before blowing a $200 plus diode ( worth a shot). I turned a $400 machine into a $2400 machine ( the driver was $500 alone).

The steppers are at a higher temp because they can be sustain at them without any excessive wear. The old temp they hung out at was around 120-140 after long projects. I hooked up an amp/volt meter to monitor the laser diodes input ( also has a led read out on temp on the Tec controller).

    $20 scope whaoooo!!!

why would you try direct probing that high of a voltage? You would have arcing, high voltage is nothing to play with if you don't understand it. You use inductive clamps. An this machine is huge, was never meant for desk top monitoring of laser diodes or any tiny electronic. The leads are all...

Upon completing how to build a cnc laser module ( by back tracing circuitry elements and looking up what they were) and activate the ttl/pwm signal to set the board without an engraver running, I moved on to a cooling system. I built the cooling system of Tec chips and controller boards ( like...

    $20 scope whaoooo!!!

Not misspelled. Say it can read waves up to 50kv. A lot more than i need, but nice to have. Lol. This scope is probably 40-50 years old.

    $20 scope whaoooo!!!

I just scored a $20 oscilloscope!! while it may be old and analog, could one day be a museum piece if I shine it up. He wouldn't sell me the museum piece, lol. Now i'm really gonna feel like an old time scientist!!! woot woot!! lol. ok I just had to brag to someone a little. No one I know is...

New guy, wanna say hi an yep got a couple of quick questions for you diyers.

Thanks for everyone's help. Encap directed me to a site that had exactly what I was looking for. I'm still down for any advice y'all wanna throw my way though. :)

A 200W fiber coupled IR laser

I want that 100w arc pumped laser at the end!!!

New guy, wanna say hi an yep got a couple of quick questions for you diyers.

I've got some really good results with 405nm-450nm and a coating. Even found some coatings i can use to add colors ( limited colors) directly into the microfractures the laser creates on glass while engraving. I'd also like to get laser diode building down, simply because i find lasers very...

Working on that. Building my customer base before i drop 3k on a co2. Got my eyes on a few, just need the customer base to support the purchase. An trust me, im trying to justify the co2 purchase. Lol. I love freaking laser beams. Thank you for that info. I may have to build one( shifter) if...

New guy, wanna say hi an yep got a couple of quick questions for you diyers.

I hope i can find someone that knows what im looking for. I just don't want y'all to think I'm here for hand holding or trying to make starwars weapons ( 😆). I run a small glass and tile engraving business on the side and just want to reduce cost of the lasers so i can reduce the cost of my...

New guy, wanna say hi an yep got a couple of quick questions for you diyers.

Im about 1000 miles north of my beloved home state. Up here in little texas ( nebraska) , Central time zone here. I'd love to be south of the dixie line, but life has other plans for me at the moment.

Hey laser peoples. How is everyone, fine I hope ( all eye's still working, house still standing, cat still has fur, etc.). I've been reading posts for about 12 months or so now. Learning all I can, and after 4 months I decided I was ready to get my laser engraver. I know, laser pointers, but...
