Recently I purchased one of the more recent developments from the Jayrob Laboratories - the 18650 host kit. I actually purchased it for my wife - with the apparent demise of the Kryton GB, I needed suitable replacement for the project. So I present - the 18650 Jayrob laser, wifey's style...

Holy crap, Dave. That laser was BEGGING fo a Meredith Red. I have zero luck running reds at >=400mA. Long closed cans seem to often be hot. My wife's red runs at 273mW at just 350mA with Jayrob's Meredith Red.

It will, with a 405-G-1 lens. I have a PHR running at 90mA outputting 97mW.

Dave has been nothing but helpful to me through PM's, through my laser follies and what-have-you. He is the main inspiration for me to build lasers in the first place!

Yes, I remember the thread - that's why my PHR is set to 90mA. Wit the 405-G-1, I'm getting 97mW. And loooong life! It's all good. I'll simply order copper heatsinks in the future. I'm always looking for upgrades to increase quality of the build.

I figured that out before you posted, Dave. However I think I damaged the diode because I got about 65mW through a 405-G-1 lens at the 290mA current setting. At least it's better than the 5mW I got last time. I need to get better at diode harvesting.

Anyone got any advice on how to get the diode & heatsink out of the sled housing? The sled's from the LG BH08LS20. I've pretty much stripped it of everything else.

For its heatsinking abilities, I'd recommend a PHR in a dilda. I'd also replace the driver as it is not a constant current driver. If you go 6x, drive it conservatively.
