    I think I broke my sci-fi laser!

I put the batteries in backwards. Blue 1.4-1.6W 445nm IIRC. I thought I put them in the right way but I guess not because not even new fresh batteries don't work. It's not over used Any advice or help would be much appreciated! Thank you

    Sci-Fi Laser review - The SF501b

Pman, yes I agree, from what I have heard Sci is always within spec. It's powerful enough regardless :) And Nobbs66, yes I would recommend it! So would a lot of other members on here, I am in fact looking for a 520 and if I go with Sci Fi lasers again (highly likely) and I get it within a...

more plane attacks killing our hobby 7-16-15

I've never seen the appeal of aiming at aircraft, the risk to reward is just insane. The stupidity instantly makes me want to slap the person doing it. And believe me, if I saw it happening, that person would NOT have a laser for much longer. Complete fools. I've only begun in this hobby, and...

    Sci-Fi Laser review - The SF501b

The laser is rated at 1.4W-1.7W .. However I didn't receive any power graph and I haven't tested it so I cannot be certain.

    Sci-Fi Laser review - The SF501b

I recently purchased the SF501b from Sci-Fi Lasers 1.4W - 1.7W is its power rating, unconfirmed as it has not been tested. Took under a week to get to my house from the moment I ordered, I emailed TheJoker301 prior to ordering asking if he could build and ship it in time as I'm going away...

Is it me or the lens?

Guys!!! I have fixed it!! I took the lens focuser off, twisted the other bit and noticed that the dot was changing.. I adjusted it a bit more and BAM. It's a dot. It's a wonderful blue dot! Ok ok... I've learnt more about operating a laser and sorted mine, I am very happy, thanks Bow and...

Is it me or the lens?

Hey bowtie, I can tell you 100% that nothing changes AT ALL when I turn the focus adapter. It could be worse, but I'm positive that if I could change the focus I would be able to get better results. I do not want to fiddle too much as I'm new and don't want to damage anything, but I will try...

Is it me or the lens?

Appreciate the reply laser chick! I'd give you a rep if I knew how! Here are pics if anyone wants to see Note: the shape of the 'dot' does not change when I twist the end, it stays the same no matter what. The twisty bit at the end has nothing in it, I had a feeling there would be a...

    Comparing the divergence at 80 feet with 445nm, 520nm, 532nm and 638nm

Koff, I saw that link, mine doesn't do that.

Is it me or the lens?

Hey, I just received my SF501b, however when I turn the lens at the end, there is no change in the beam, even when I take it off completely it still remains the same. At 1 foot the 'dot' is about 8 inches wide, at 1 meter it's about a foot wide. I've read that blue diverges a lot more than...

    Comparing the divergence at 80 feet with 445nm, 520nm, 532nm and 638nm

Something must be wrong with my 445 then. The 'dot' is about as big as that red line, but twice as thick as the 445 dot (even bigger tbh). At 1 meter... It's more like a flashlight than a laser, surely it can't be correct? Just received it in the mail this morning, at work now so can't...
