Alright, hooked it up to my scope. I have a kinda dirty 27 MHz sine wave coming out of the preamp board, but the rails on the laser are sitting at a constant 36V DC. So it seems like my power amp is screwed up somewhere. I mean, even if the laser is dead, I should still be seeing the amplified...
Alright, I added another ground connection and it didn't seem to do anything. I tested continuity before doing this and the laser and main board were already grounded to each other, so I didn't really expect it to make a difference. So I know that the laser has those copper strips running down...
Oh, that's a good point about the grounding. Right now the two units are only connected by a dinky coaxial cable. I had assumed that the sleeve was ground but I'm not even sure if that's correct. I'll ground them properly and let you know how that goes (hopefully well).
Hey guys, I'm in a similar situation to the OP. I bought one of these lasers and power supply from heruur a few years ago and I'm having a shot at getting it to lase. The preamp seems to be working fine. I'm supplying PWM and I can get both green LEDs on the board to vary in brightness as I vary...
Yeah I'm not interested in going that low on this laser.
I'm having trouble finding the paperwork but I'm pretty sure it was spec'd at 135-140mw average with a peak at around 146mw. About a year and a half ago I built one of the laser power meters from this thread...
I bought this laser almost this laser almost three years ago. However, I lost a fair bit of interest the hobby less than six months after purchasing it and it has been sitting in my closet rarely used since then. It's in great condition and does not have a single scratch. I don't own a laser...
Hey guys, sorry to bump up an old thread but I finally took my laser off the shelf and tried to get it working a couple days ago and I need a bit of help. My laser is one of the later ones sold and is set up so that the laser head needs 32v and the board requires +12v, +5v, and PWM. I have been...
Up for sale is my Alpha 125 from Novalasers. It's a fantastic laser and I love it dearly, but my interests have simply moved on from lasers and it doesn't see very much use anymore. It comes with the accompanying case from Novalasers as well as a Novalasers diffraction grating. Unfortunately, I...
I have one of the thermal power meter heads from this thread. If anyone is interested in buying it, PM me. I also have Knimrod's non-programmable board for it, assembled. All you would need do to get it working is hook it up to a multimeter.
