Blimey,60 watts ,that would take some power, best advice would be to ask one of the more experienced members to see if they can make something,iv'e seen some small drivers on ebay that can power 5amps+, many drivers all independently wired to the same diode would boost current though, but as to...

ANYONE OWNING A POINTER OR LARGER!!read this!!

some interesting ways to blind, I presume that all of the ways to blind shown in the video have actually happened? but who in their right (or very wrong) mind would use a laser to pop spots? this video should be pinned to the home page or sent to every new member as a safety guide :)

Safety tips please using Class IIIA 532nm 10000mw

be very careful for reflecting light bouncing back at you, pointing a beam into the night sky and circling stars should be fine, you have 2 types really, static beams (from pointers) and scattered beams (from disco lasers) static beams you should never stare directly into or point anywhere near...

    Glued crystal alignment problems

For sure, iv'e had glasses since the age of 8 so i do try to look after my eyes, static laser beams are very dangerous, whenever i'm tinkering with laser diodes it's always with an air of caution.

    Glued crystal alignment problems

Thanks again for your input, I will persevere and hope that i can find the best spot, If i can replicate the set up from my $1 dollar pointer i'll be happy as that is really bright, time to get out the magnifying glass again and have another in depth analysis of the crystal orientation. I knew it...

    Glued crystal alignment problems

thanks for the input, all that understood is there a rule of thumb for crystal alignment other than be patient with a steady hand?, Is there an optimal zone where the crystal will perform better? (assuming the crystals have been properly aligned before being glued/cut) cheers :)

    Glued crystal alignment problems

I'm not 100% sure if this has been asked specifically before,if it has please delete/ignore, I bought a $1 532nm pointer that is in my opinion really bright, the beam will travel for what seems like miles, when pointed across the countryside at twilight it's visible dot can be seen on trees that...

    Attitudes towards new members

thanks Guys, @Grainde thanks for the input (no pun intended) i wish i could have had your advice over Chucks from Aixiz when i blew my first blue hand held up, sorry for the bell end comment Issac but you were kind of baiting me with your comment, I'm sure you're all nice people and i'd like...

    Attitudes towards new members

Guys/Girls?Aliens... I started this thread as a result of my observations of peoples attitudes to new comers and it's definitely hit a nerve, which shows me that there is hostility towards new people. the term "spoon feeding" is not nice, molly coddling would be almost as bad but not as...

    Attitudes towards new members

cheers Jander, i did have a read through that one some days back, respect with me is given as standard to anyone that's friendly and polite, but i draw the line at those that are too quick to jump down someones throat for whatever reason, politeness, manners, common courtesy/civility should become...

    Another newcomer

The smell of death? fried eyeballs? here we go again, let me just clear this up,when i'm putting together a pointer using ir diodes, they are clamped in a vice in a vertical position and i will be sat 90 degrees to the beam of light, the light itself is shining onto a bare wooden shed roof which...
