That is a 9mm diode not a 3.8mm. 😕

I hoped to re-use the nice housing, the reason for getting another TO38 diode. I do have some M140's (2W) , will find a proper housing for them instead. 😈

That is the same diode I quoted, (NDV4542) and is actually only 200mW, thanx anyway.
