Thanks for the comments folks.
I really want to try a single mode diode for my next build. Still doing some research, but it seems like single modes are less than 500mW. May have to give up some output for that nice tight dot.
***This post is extremely long and very verbose, but hopefully has some useful information in it.***
First off...thanks to jayrob, DTR, lazeerer and CajunLasers for making this abysmally long post possible. If you are even remotely considering one of jayrobs builds...you won't regret it! Not...
Nice build. I think my next one will be in a C6 also.
I'm with you ApexProxy and Blord...I just built my first laser pointer and it was an M140 build. The beam is a line...powerful as heck, but not that super focused dot. I want to try a single mode diode for my next build.
I just built mine today and documented the whole thing. Expect a full write up in a few days (sooner if I didn't have a date with my girlfriend tomorrow night...she always ruins everything...that is a complete lie, she's pretty spectacular).
But, to whet your appetite...
Yeah, I like the fine adjustment offerings also.
That is a sweet PSU if for only one reason...BLUE LED DISPLAYS! :D ...but 10A, that's pretty impressive too for $148 US...but the shipping and time frame from Australia...not good.
I had been thinking about one of those also (the table top...
I'm looking for a decent benchtop power supply that won't break the bank. I was looking at this Mastech HY3005D, but that sounds too good to be true. I'd like to be able to efficiently power my Arduino projects as well as some larger, work related LED projects (1W to 5W LEDs).
Thanks!
We thought about that actually and tried a couple of different colors. The plain ole' white LEDs really did look the best. Not to mention, we don't want to clash with the rest of the room, which is heavy on wood tones and blues.
I'm with ya ApexProxy...didn't even think about it when I was uploading it.
Here's the YouTube link...Green Laser & An Acrylic Piano
...and no, it wasn't time lapse. My buddy and I were pretty shocked how cool it looked. There's minor details, like how it was bouncing around the curve and off...
Laser goggles...a must have...I know.
All of the techs on our show with lasers, get their eyes photographed yearly. I've been doing entertainment lighting since I was 17 (I'm old now) and with the move to fiber optics as the most efficient means of data transfer over long distances, I've taken...
