MrTechyGuy:
I was on vacation for two weeks, but that's not the reason you haven't heard from me. I wrote you at least 10 emails with answers to all your questions and they keep bouncing back.
I'll PM you the email i have for you and you let me know if it's even correct.
I'm preparing another "murder experiment" for these diodes, but i didn't get very far cos i was on vacation.
But once everything is up and running i'll start a testing thread, altho i won't be doing the many replots i did with the previous two. It's simply too much work - it'll be a simplified...
No, i plan on buying a number of these diodes myself, torture one and once the end results are known i will accept donations for that one and possibly a second.
Thanks!
Why, is 1.19W a lot for these diodes? I was led to assume it's the norm while talking to some of our members here...
But i have plans to design a "no duty cycle" laser that will be capable of powering these diodes at currents even higher than the drivers can deliver now (if...
Thank you for your comments! Much appreciated! If it wasn't for all the feedback i doubt i would have the motivation to do it all.
Wow, those must be some freak diodes you have there! The best of my three in the multi-plot needs 1A for 1.2W.. EDIT: Unless you did what i tried to explain in...
Geologic:
Yes, i built a few versions using this chip, and the LM3410 is capable of going as far as 1A or even a bit higher under specific conditions, for example at a Vf of ~4.5V. But this is very close to it's limits and there are some variations from one chip to another, where they'll start...
Thanks!
I like having multiplots available, as they are useful for determining the ranges of diode efficiency, and anyone can use them to figure out which efficiency category their diode falls in simply by tracing upwards from their current setting (or estimate what to expect beforehand)...
Re: FS-IGORT build bluray 191mW
It's a GGW diode from my old stock (the original 79), which means a REAL GGW diode - without kinks, and not the fake crap the Chinese have been peddling for months now, which are in reality prototype GGW sleds with old GBW diodes inside - with kinks all over...
Ah that makes more sense, i got confused cos they are all connected by a line that goes through them. I thought each line is one diode.
Thanks for clearing this up!
Am i seeing things or are there kinks in these plots (except for the green one which almost has the right shape except for the bump)?!?
I plotted five 445nm diodes so far and not one of them had anything resembling a kink. Or am i misunderstanding something here?
It would be good to...
Thanks! :yh:
That is a good question. I haven't finished testing it just yet, i also plan to put the module into an aluminum host of the same model to compare thermal dissipation into air - the alu one is black so it might even radiate more heat away instead of mainly cooling from convection...
Ok, here's what happens if i include your data in the multi-plot:
I used pinkish colors to make your two diodes stand out.
As you can see, your "A140 #1" has almost the same efficiency as my "A130 #02"...
Your "A130 #4" does indeed have a MUCH lower efficiency and stands appart from the...
Yes, i was thinking about the end user (Cassio) testing their diodes individually. If they can simply ask for higher efficiency when buying that's something else entirelly. Haven't thought about that option.
I haven't stumbled upon the graphs but the idea is combining the two of yours into the...
