I just need a diode still. Which 6x are you using?
Re: My next build (6x, almost done)
Looks very sleek! I saw that host and wanted to use it too, I decided on a different one, but I am glad to see you using it. Can't wait to see it done!
GaroBlu
No, but I am in the process. I have everything ordered so it should be done in a month. (Shipping from DX to USA, then to here)
Also, I do know a thing or 2 about the DIY tech stuff and to be honest answered a question anyone else could have. In fact you could have too with searches. Generally...
I don't know if you have cleared this up yet, but mW is miliwatts not megawatts. So then 1.62W would be 1620mW. The diode will pull about 4.8-5.2v at 160ma, but the power output of the diode would be somewhere around 200mW (just a guess)
I know I am also somewhat new, but I hope this helps!
There are a couple GGW 6x burners up on Ebay Austria like this one. eBay Österreich: LG GGW-H20L BK SATA Blu-ray/HD-DVD/DVD/CD Brenner TOP (Artikel 220504035616 endet 11.11.09 17:58:52 MEZ)
I think I will try to pick one of them up, but is there another diode that I could harvest like the 16x...
Congrats on the engagement! I am totally trying that on my wife's ring when I get my 405 up and running. I know at least one of the diamonds is real because it is an heirloom so hopefully if it does phosphoresce there will be more proof that it happens!
thanks for the info Larry. I actually did decide to go with a 18650 host because of the high capacity and room for a larger heatsink. The batteries I ordered are 2600mah and labeled Ultrafire. They are what I could find on ebay.at. I don't want it to look too much like a flashlight and I don't...

I really like this kit, but I want to be as original as possible. Unfortunately I dont have a lathe or anything good to fabricate heatsinks. This is why I was wondering if the heatsink would fit this model. DealExtreme: $23.40 SacredFire...
More good info! I have looked at a lot of the members' offerings and really like what I have seen. That being said, I would probably go with some components from them, but ultimately I want the experience of doing it without a kit. I also see what you are saying about current draw. I found these...
Great! That was the answer I was looking for. I see the difference now when I compare the rckstr with the microflexdrive v5 that I have been looking at. I think I have decided on the rckstr and will have to keep the voltage up. I will want to run the BDR-203 diode so now all I need is to pick...
I guess I was a little optimistic then. I should really plan for the diode first then and after choosing the appropriate heatsink go from there. Ideally it would need to have a duty cycle of at least a minute at a time. From there I would be able to determine which battery and host to use. Most...
I know that the Noob like me can be despised on forums, but I assure you that I have done some research already. I know that I would ideally like to run a diode in the 400-410nm range (Blu-Ray). I would also like the host to be somewhat compact as in something pen sized and able to fit 1 or 2...
