That really is a nice, clean ArKr!
I'm only getting about 6 lines out of my 300wc, no meter on it so no idea of its hrs, green only shows briefly when power is turned up but fades fast. ☹
The Red/blues curse.
GL with yours! Look forward to updates.
So, i was tinkering with my 365nm flashlight and something caught my eye.....
Right at the cathode bell, what looks like uranium glass 🤔
Anyone know anything about this?
Keep in mind... plug and play machines are fine but having the knowledge on how they function is of a great service to you... these devices are not toys and can kill you if you're not aware.
Please use caution when working on them.
1st off... WELCOME! :D Great to have you with us! (wait a minute... you've been here forever! oooo, you fooled me. :P )
2nd, i'm not 100% convinced that That is necessary. i'm not sure when it it comes to Ar lasers but i've never let my ArKr "preheat" for more then maybe a minute and never...
"Use for it...." ? it's a cool ass laser! if you don't want it, i know a few collectors that'd be happy to have a lil gem like that in their collection! ;)
There really is something about that pinkish glow, isn't there? i Love looking at my 127b (i keep the cover off), long, thin, glowing bore and the gorgeous red beam! eventually i plan to get some yellow & orange optics for it as well. too bad green isn't an option for 1m HENEs. :(
yep, seems to be the KTP.
took it apart and when i applied a chipchiller to the KTP mount the beam realigned. Wasn't an expensive laser so not going to stress about it. Maybe someday i'll find a use for the IR diode.
Tnx guys. :)
no... close to 01 but not centered/divided like that... more like main beam weakens and a 2nd, weaker beam shoots off at a degree or 2 off the main axis.
I'm not very versed in the diode lasers but know enough to get thru my day however....
i have an eBay "200mW" pointer, DPSS Green and when i 1st got it, it seemed fairly stable however after a couple of months use (on and off, bursts not more than 45-60s) it started to behave oddly... after...
Awesome!
i was thinking of trying that with my 127b but will have to wait till i can get a stable base to work on, everything here shakes too much for optics! lol
what exactly is the diff between your 127 & 124 that allowed yellow?
