    CR-599 Dye Laser!

Thanks. In fairness, I shouldn't bring it with me on Batmaning practice. Yep. 2.5 W UV is somewhat achievable. The rest will be beyond spending power for a long while. Looks like this will be out of my reach until I'm a little richer. I meant what I said about anybody properly equipeed in...

    CR-599 Dye Laser!

Thanks for the info. Very helpful. I smashed my camera (through a silicon skin and a hardcase!) last week, but I'll upload photos as soon as I get it back next week, by which time I'll have cleaned it. The pump goes up to 100 psi, but I had suspect it would run much lower. 70 is pretty high...

    CR-599 Dye Laser!

Haven't had the money to do anything interesting with lasers recently, so I've concentrating on my Biolab. There's a skip I generally trawl for lab gear, and I found this awesome laser + dye pump. A quick forum search turned up nothing. It's not in great shape, but all the optics are intact...

    Another 12x

I was about to get all smug about being a linux user and already having USB 3.0 until I remembered the hassle I have to go to in order to play DRMed Blu-Ray movies.

WTB Burning Laser For Lighting "Tabacco"

Good thing tobacco isn't green, or a green laser probably wouldn't work.

Is this a good deal for an 8X blu ray burner..$130?

I wonder what happens when you shine a collimated Blu-Ray beam through a blank BR disc (HINT!).

    Ebay BR pens

Should we really be patronizing a store that sells dangerous lasers as safe level lasers? I mean, over-reporting milliwattage is just scammy, but under-reporting it by a whole order of magnitude is criminally irresponsible.

Can 8x 405nm cut white depron?

I can't imagine getting micrometre level precision from a consumer diode without the OEM optics. Maybe if you dremeled around the form and then used your 3.2 Watt (IR?). I'm sure you can find a dye that absorbs 808nm and is absorbed by Depron

    HPLD confusion

I believe that CCDs react to IR. The filters which determine which colour will be represented in a pixel are relatively equally transparent to IR, causing it to appear white.

red lasers CAN write GITD (kinda) :D

So, would a greenie be better? Presumably the highest frequency that doesn't charge it, discharges it fastest?

    Protestors use lasers against police.

This is really bad. Imagine if some terrorist group started making 12x 405nm or 200 mw greenie builds. They could distribute them to protesters, football hooligans and general malcontents. The entire laser hobby system would be crushed.

Possible solution to this plane problem

Lasies (?) and Gentlemen, I believe we have found test subjects for the Boeing YAL-1

DIY Green Laser Sight (for Handguns)?

I'm relatively new to lasers myself, but back in my non-coherant days, I needed a strong flashlight to use during adventures. Eventually, the Gladius came out and I bought it. The difference in engineering of a gun light and a regular LED are obvious; it's got very tight tolerances and has...

DIY Green Laser Sight (for Handguns)?

It might not be false advertising; just shot in a dark room with ton of incense burning. If this firearm is to be used in hot blood (self defense/you're a cop), you should definitely use the lasers that have been tested and hardened for that application. You can easily buy a 5 mw greenie on...

    Airplane attacked again! (seatac again)

I talked to my pilot next door neighbour about this. He told me that the glass the planes has a rigid outer layer and a softer inner layer embedded with a gold mesh through which they run current to prevent condensation. I wonder whether the diameter of the mesh is comparable to the wavelength...
