Hi guys, sorry for a novice question, but there's this popular silvery housing
And I can't figure out what material is it. Seems too strong for aluminum... maybe steel?
Thanks
Aha, learned about beam divergence! Sorry I did not know it earlier.
Just to be sure I got it right... if I have a 0.5mm spot at a distance of 150mm and the laser has 1mrad divergence, then according to this calculator ( pseudonomen137's JScript Diameter Calculator ), the beam size at...
Well, their story was that they need to manufacture this samples first. Some seller offered samples for 20$, some even gave them for free, but their end price was about 7-8$/pc, which is a bit over my budget/
Thanks, I'll look into him.
By the way, maybe you guys know, what is responsible for...
Thanks for the input.
You're right! The green lasers work great then V+ is connected to the case, and not only can they be focused, but they also have great focus depth!
There are a few threads left at the very begging, so they are holding the lens in a pressed down position.
One thing I...

Hi guys,
I'm sorry for bugging you with newbie questions, but here goes another one. :)
I need to buy 1000+ laser modules, 650nm, 5mw, that will be used for producing a thin line at a distance of 110-190mm. I already ordered the square line-generating lenses and now am looking for the lasers...
Ok, but just wanted to ask again to be sure I understand correctly - distance from the laser module to the line lens is not critical for the line width?
Considering that the lens is placed a few mm from the laser and we want to get the line at a distance of about 150mm.
THnaks
Sounds interesting, but I don't want to make it over complicated, since it will be a mass produced product. So I guess the best solution would be to find a laser module with all that stuff already inside and then just passing it through the line lens.
Maybe you could suggest some cheap module...
Hi guys,
I need to mass produce a reasonably cheap device ( already over 1000 customers ), which would shoot a vertical laser line, thinner then 0.5mm at a distance of 110mm to 190mm , with a fan angle of about 110 degrees.
The first thing I tried was a simple 2$, fixed focus laser line module...
Received the samples for a company with a funny name Huyanic, and was truly surprised by their poor quality. :wtf:
Here you can see the line produced by their 10$ ( bulk price, 20$ retail ) module.
Maybe you could suggest some other manufacturers who can do better at a reasonable price...
Hi and thanks for your reply. I'm in Riga, Latvia. Of course, I ordered samples from this manufacturers, hope to receive in a week or so.
Maybe you could suggest some manufacturer? most of whom I found in Alibaba can offer in the 9-10$ price range.
Maybe that's why they cost 9$ ? ... :undecided:
Hi guys,
I'm new to lasers and wanted to ask for your advice.
I am looking for a fixed focus laser module, 5mw, 5v, 650nm, that would produce a very think, less then 0.5mm, line at a distance of 100 to 150mm.
So far I tired the cheap ~2$ fixed focus line laser modules that you can on get ebay...
