Hello Paul,
Long time no chat and thanks for the heads up. I appreciate the tip for 300mA. How much shift do you see here? I've always wanted to experience a "baby blue" beam.
I have to rebuild my 520 soon also.. the adjustable blackbuck 8m in a maglite died somehow. I was able to dial it up...
Hello everyone! Been a long time since I've built a laser or been around. I have mostly been building flashlights.
Anyway I noticed the 488s have come down in price and decided to build one. The issue is a driver, and what current I can run. Will the 220mA from Survival work? What's the max...
Are you feeding the driver with a 12v 1 amp capable power source? Otherwise if there's no pot to adjust I'd ask for a refund. The driver isn't setup properly.
Really? I am working on a Ortur Laser Master 2 for a client and it seems to only operate on 5V but I never read the signal from the controller. Now I will have to.
He stated he doesn't have a 5V aux supply and wanted to use a phone charger with cut cables.. I told him it could work; but it won't be adjustable obviously.
If this is a laser engraver there is likely only three pins on the input... TTL/PWM, Ground and +12V
That's not gonna really give you any control over the output; it may be full power all the time. I guess you COULD try that, but the point would be to test the PWM and if it functions. Just make sure you check the output of the charger, sometimes they are 5.4v instead of 5.0v. The PWM on my last...
How much is this one? Seems you been dealing with a loony here lately, cannot believe he complained over that. With the shortage of hosts and parts for DIY laser building, these guys.....
There are many "industrial" grade logic level shifters out there on eBay, I have ordered several. It can convert the 3.3v to 5v with a small box, powered on the input voltage of 12-24v. Usually an input, and an output. They have them to convert to mA from mV and much more. It could be more...
Not sure if you've already tried this but make sure you do extensive testing and monitor the start-up current. There is a very good possibility this driver will over-current on start-up. I don't see much to the circuit in the way of 'soft-start' which is required for most all laser drivers...
I actually pulled out my "toaster oven reflow station" today and started making a batch of LED drivers. I too built some buck/boost drivers back in the day and had some guys on here testing for me with 450nm diodes. I would be interested to test if you need someone to. I have Oscilloscopes, lab...
Are you sharing Grounds between the PWM signal source and the driver? If not, this will cause issues. I have seen some of these cheap drivers require more voltage than 5V to get max output.
I would do like myself and use a separate adjustable 5V power source to simulate the output and see if it...
Hey paul thanks for the outlook and info on the 488. I have had many 450s and a few 473. I really want to experience a 488 atleast for little while.
What's the max current you guys run those 488? And the minimum output for less shift and still decent beam.
Thanks buddy! It certainly does man, sometime it's hard to find spare time for hobbies. I have been looking on the website for 488nm beam shots. Any suggestions for a driver for the 488nm?
