I received my 445nm 1W handheld from o-like yesterday and can't get it to work. Batteries work, switch work, and I got the polarity right ("+" towards the end/switch). I tried to measure current, but there is 0A.

I've been in contact with Susie, and I can send it back to get a new one, but have anyone here been in the same situation or have any tips? If I could do an "easy fix" for example. I don't know how to get access to the driver, as I guess the problem lies there somewhere. Could it have be damaged by ESD while it was in the package?

Only two reasons I can think of right now, is:

Empty/dead batteries,
Dead on arrival laser.

I sincerely hope it's first one.

Have you measured the voltage of batteries ?
"Batteries work", how do you know?

What's the exact voltage of batteries fresh off the charger ?

By "batteries work" I meant that I measured them to 3.6-3.7V each which is correct. The battery charger refuse to charge them higher anyway... So I guess there ain't anything to do but send it back:undecided:

Are batteries pile lithium, or lithium ion ?

Lithium ion batteries should go up to 4.20 V when fully charged.

It should say right on the batteries.

It's all in chinese:confused: But it says "ICR 123A", so i guess it's like this one: (except that it's a chinese brand)

That's lithium , and your readings of batteries are as they should be.

Before giving in to DOA laser conclusion, I'd just say that you try different batteries.

If it still does not work... you need to RMA it.

Ehm... what is RMA? You mean return? :P

RMA means return merchandise authorization or something like that, that gives the company a specific item number for you to put on the package, so they can log it in their system, so they know what they just got in the mail, useful for companies that ship a lot of things all the time.

Those idiots need to get translations right.

I love how the title says one watt then:

Wavelength:445nm

output power :700mW

size :Φ24mm×190mm

They are not idiots.

If you cannot approxiate output power from the battery current draw stated, you are not experienced enough to buy this anyway.

I tried my laser today just to see, and I see a very very dim blue light which a haven't noticed before.

Current drawed is 1.4mA. I guess this doesn't change anything..?

Unsure.

Does it give off a bright blue flash before returning to dim light ?
If so, batteries.

If not, RMA.
