tomorrow is when the faculty is voting on a strike mandate, what that means is if the faculty feels like the discussions are being "ignored" they will go on strike. I have no experience with strikes and I have one question. what happens if the strike lasts 1 moth, will school continue into summer?

anyone else being effected by this?

I would have been. I live in Ottawa, ON (Algonquin College) and was supposed to be in second semester now. Sadly I got such low marks in first semester that I got booted out of my program. Since that's the second program I have been kicked out of I am suspended from OSAP (student loan people) and have to drop out of school till I can pay for it myself. :( I graduated high school in June '07 and worked for one year then went to Photonics engineering in Sept '08. I failed out of that and went to Computer Systems Tech (both at Algonquin) but failed out of that even quicker. So now I am stuck with huge debt and unable to go to school. Guess at least I avoid the potential strike. :(

Yes I would imagine the program will continue into the summer. If North American Uni. programs are like ours here in Europe, each subjects demands a given amount of practical/school hours in order for the student to pass the subject and the year.

IIRC when I was living in NJ, they had an incredibly tough system where only 5 days were excusable (high school)...I am assuming that it is similar for you Canadians...

wow... if you have to do extra time, that sucks. Well maybe a vacation isn't all bad.

will
