hello guys, i recently got an optlaser 568nm laser module, and while i was messing with the pots on the driver, the diode died, i decided to make a laser pointer with the small self doubling crystal i got from the 568nm laser, so i went to the store and bought a cheap 532nm laser pointer, i removed the 532nm mca and i added the 568nm crystal. (the 568nm crystal already had mirrored coatings on them) after around 30 min of aligning, i finally got yellow light! (568nm looks lemon yellow to me) i glued the crystal in place and i waited for it to set. when i came back, the glue had dried and the crystals were lasing, the output power was between 1-2mw and it was lasing at tem-01 but i got yellow light! and there was no mode hopping or anything. this process is incredibly inefficient (0.5%-0.8% efficient) as the pump diode was 350mw and i was getting 2 mw of yellow light output so i don't recommend you try this if you aren't that patient, aligning the 568nm crystals are much harder than the 532 ones and can take many minutes or hours to align . thanks for reading :)

You mainly got that huge of inefficiency due to the pump wavelength, the WL on those 303s is 808nm while the optimal pump for those yellow modules is ~940nm.

ah thanks, i thought it was 808 ill try that with my 561 crystal from lsence

Tbh I am very surprised you got any lasing at all with 808, You must really know how to align :), Also spare any said crystals? would like to experiment a bit with em too, BTW you can get the aforementioned 940 pumps from ebay for cheap.

but why is it still lasing then? i thought neodymium doped laser mediums have sharp absorption peaks, isnt the laser crystal Nd:SVAP

Please stop making double and triple posts. Multiple back to back post are very annoying and very frowned upon on LPF.

FYI I'm almost certain that OPT and Lasence use different processes that achieve a similar result. OPT heads are 940nm pumped but Lasence heads are 808nm pumped.

Edit: Spectro graphs

I do not own one, not sure. I would bet on 808nm but I'm waiting for a restock on the CW modules.
