i just guessing it is currently engineering sample that hinted on datasheet naming NDS-7175''E"

Yes, this is an engineering sample. I can imagine that even when NDS-7175's become available, these will be in $$$$'s. It is the Sharp 488's that have come up cheap recently. N!ch!@ diodes still cost a fortune unfortunately. Still, this might actually be a diode well worth spending that sort of money on. Currently you can only get that sort of power in the cyan part of the spectrum from large Argon's or even more expensive OPSL's.

This is not the first engineering sample Nichi@ made in light blue. Several years ago they came out with the NDA7175E which was 468nm to 475nm. I waited, in vain, for sometime hoping to see one of those.

But this is now in the cyan range. The NDA must of been a work in progress to this NDS variety. I'm hoping to see these become available and tested here, but I can tell already. It won't be me doing it. :p

We have two NDA7175Es laying around somewhere (yes I'll get them mounted and tested and show you folks in the next month or so) that were gifted and am looking to get hold of these 2Ws also for a new project. I think cost will be very high due to various other industries they are useful in though..

Usually higher demand drives prices down on these diodes. I don't understand your thinking on this.
Higher demand for example in high value sectors like medical or scientific and similar will have no bearing on cost for us lowly laserists, entertainment manufacturers and enthusiasts.
There is a quote from them here on one of the workstations, from back when they were making the first blues and the volume price decreases are stunning. From xxxx pcs to hundreds of thousands of pieces is two digits X lower cost.. enough said. Even medical wouldn't get a break like that because the TAM isn't there, talking over 20mil usd order for that level of price break. Video projector manufacturers, maybe our friends at C**** might just be able to squeeze around that. But you'll still pay quite a bit to gut one, hence the cost stays high for us all.
They have the market locked down, that's why they are a monopoly - no one else builds as good blue as they do. Even we have trouble getting their stuff direct, but we make lower volume lasers for the best of the best, not joe bloggs, so volume isn't there.

I honestly can't imagine how bright these diodes would be in the 483<x<490nm wavelength range as per the spec sheet. The beam and spot on a properly focused/collimated 488nm @ 100mw is already very visible at night, let alone an order of magnitude stronger.

All these solid state diodes, in different wavelengths, with power handling over the 1w range, make me very happy.

I too welcome our high power SM and MM overlords :)
Am investigating adding them to our projectors. Order of magnitude lumen jump over 445.. enough said.
Also looked at some solid state yellows last month but price is... high. Little bit like the micro greens but not mass market.

any updates? can you already purchase the diode? or is it still egnineering example/urban myth
