Hi everyone, usually I don't like buying anything from China due to long shipping time to the United States, inconsistency and loads of other factors. But I've been seeing a lot of laser diodes being sold from China. Does anybody know if these are reliable or are they just clones/poor quality? Thank you.

So much that we buy comes from China, there is a large Osram factory in China however many other brands are resold, I have purchased many diodes from China via EBay and most have been received in good working order, however there is often a scammer in the bunch so take a look at feedback, feedback score and total number of sales.

If not EBay there are some websites that sell for crazy high prices and lie about output, but EBay is usually pretty good if you have some idea of what you are looking at.

You can also buy from domestic sellers.

Search for lists and whatnot, it's free to use the search bar....enjoy

Perfect. Thank you so much Red, I'll be looking out for the scammers I'm still working on a m140 build so in the future when I need more diodes I'll check out some Ebay sellers from China.

This is where knowing about the part is important and as the M-140 is not in production all there are for the most part are used pulls, although some NOS exists people on EBay do sometimes lie, you can look at the ad for refirb or new and take your chances, or DTR sells NOS m-140's that are zero use pulls farm fresh but he may be slow to ship right now, maybe not so.......Goodluck

Ah, I bought my M140 from a seller near me who sells a lot of laser diodes and housings, but I bought a few housings from DTR and a driver so good to know that he's slow on shipping currently I don't mind a bit of a wait considering he's in the U.S so it shouldn't be too long. But thanks again.

I have purchased many diodes from China on eBay. I have found it best to try to get into an auction as you can end up getting them much cheaper that way. I think I did over pay for my new NDG7475 diode at $84.00. They have gone for far less money at auction. I got two NDB7675 diodes at auctions that came to ~$25.00 each when all was said and done. Just thought you might like to know.

Huh, that's good to know. Thank you Paul. I was actually looking at the NDG7475 and I came across other diodes that were being shipped from China which was what caused me to make this post.
