Kind of new to this forum as well as working with lasers, I am very exact about my safety with glasses, and being careful not to burn myself but this is a 1W 445nm and I have some ideas but I purchased it as a "kardel gattling laser" and I've removed the shafts on the side that look like "gattling" I was thinking about dremeling it out but im not sure. Any help is appreciated, thank you! (its the one in the image except the housing is about 3 inches long)

...Why do you want to remove it?

Also, please don't post multiple threads about the same thing.

My bad, I must have double posted by accident. And I want to remove it to use it in a project of mine that involves a 1W laser I am very new to working with these but am taking proper safety precautions. I'd be glad to enlighten you on what it entails if you'd like I might post a video on it.

Why not buy an M140 laser diode from one of the many suppliers. With the proper driver and lens they will output over 2 watts. Most are under $17.00 each. You likely have that or the other lower power ca$io projector diode in that awful gattling host. That way, you don't have to tear up a working laser and it isn't a very expensive diode any longer.

Wow that's really informative as I said I'm pretty new to this, but I looked up that M140 just a second ago, any places with quick shipping you know of that sell that? Im not seeing any. thanks, I only planned on tearing this one up because I spent about 90 USD on it and I just wanted the diode.

Take that back, I just found one in my state on ebay! Thanks for the information.

Anytime. I have some in my personal stock, but I paid very little for them. If some pop up for a really good price I will buy some just to have. As long as you know which diodes putout the power and wavelength you are looking for, you can just search around until you find a deal on them. You will want to drive the genuine M140 diodes at 1.8 amps as that has been found to be the best current setting for high output powers and long life........as long as you heat sink the diode properly. There are the weaker ones that have been called the A140s, but they won't last at 1.8 amps. The way you tell the difference is there is a circle above the block stamped into the back of the diode. If it is there, it is a true 2+ watt diode. If not, then don't drive it harder than 1.5 amps.
