Hey guys, I've been away for some time now. I went to lighthound and they're gone! Where are the hip kids in the know getting their electrons?

But seriously, I am building a small robot and weight and size are both a factor, I have a tiny one that could work but i need 12v so one isn't even enough to prototype.

Thanks,

Javalin

Hi Javalin, long time no see!

Yep, lighthound has been closed for a couple years now I think, it was my favorite place to go for Li-Ion batteries. :yabbem:

One place I can think of off the top of my head is - IMR Batteries.

Here's some others - Mountain Electronics, ILLUMN ( Illumination Supply)

Edit: There is also a lot of sellers on ebay, and then there are the Vape sites like - RTDVapor.

I hadn't seen them. Sad to see lighthound go. Thats where I got my 10180... haven't even found another. It is a tiny little battery.

About a year ago I intended to get back into lasers, i have 2 builds that just need diodes and i bought out stock of 120 heatsinks... just havent pulled the trigger.

I haven't seen that site before. Sure has a lot of batteries listed that they don't have.

They do have excellent prices on what they do have in stock however out of stock they are on a lot of items.
You have to check in them often if you want a particular out of stock battery. Because of their prices, excellent service, and reliability when they get in batteries a lot of people want for whatever reason, they sell out quickly whatever they get in.

Liionwholesale and IMR, IMHO, are the only trusted sources particularly for Sony 18650s. There are so many fake, rewraps out there. NEVER get them from ebay or Amazon. I don't even trust vape shops as they are more expensive, and often their sources are questionable. Never had a problem with Liionwholesale stuff.

I have them saved on my browser.

In fact, I purchased some Panasonic 18650s from them today. Rated at 3400 mAh and protected. Can't wait to test them on my Opus BT-C3100.

I have done well ordering efest and other high quality cells from ebay. Spend some time comparing and find a deal, but check seller feedback.

I have ordered on eBay in the past with mixed results. I got in the habit of testing them to see if they were what the seller claimed they were. If not, I would contact them and complain. This has usually got me a refund, but not able to buy from them again. Not a problem as I would not want to buy from a seller of fake/ Crap batteries.

I buy from ebay seller rsales a lot, I know one member said he had an issue with them once but I buy the good cells and I load test them with a 1 ohm load and an inductive ammeter and parallel voltmeter simultaneously to check for excessive sag and so far the 10 dollar a piece 26650's of the IMR/INR formulations have held up well.

A lot of the online battery stores look good until you add in the shipping, with ebay it's often free shipping and because of competition you get them at a good price and get them pretty fast.

Efest isn't a manufacturer! They're a rewrapper. The only companies that make cells are LG, Sanyo/Panasonic, Samsung, and Sony. If it's any other brand, they're rewrapped. Search for "Mooch Battery Chart". It's predominately for vaping (highest current) but some devices, particularly ridiculous output flashlights, need 20A+ 18650s. There are legitimate 3Ah cells that can put out 15-20A continuous. Lasers aren't going to complain with those!

I avoid rsales on ebay, guy sold me two different orders of 26650 cells, in each order one was completely dead and would not recharge, then he wrote ebay I had damaged the battery, that arc marks were present from over current. He lied, flat out lied, there were absolutely no arc marks on it. Maybe he has stepped up his game but for me, he lost, I won't ever consider buying from him again, not after his fabrications.

I don't think you can go wrong with Panasonic cells, if they aren't fake.
