There are cheap high powered laser's like the one you posted about in the other thread that come with acrylic lenes that melt usually after a few uses. If you do go that way make sure it states it has a glass lens. That would be one reason to change to glass.
Acrylic's are used alot in lower power builds and I would think be safe with up to 300mw+?

Yep. I use them, acrylic, in the new Sharp laser diode builds as they don't give the rectangular artifact that you get with glass lenses. My set screw should have gotten here by now, but it hasn't. :(
