Help is my 611.8 HENE on it's death bed.

It always had a blue color behind the orange and i read the laser faq.

I closed the shutter till i cold just see it and looked at it with a 1000linesper mm grating.

Can you take an image of your HeNe. It may help us get an idea.

I think it might just be from the bore as it comes out several inches I read that on the faq ( only can see that with my blue googles) and i saw a rainbow of wls from violet to many reds I mean I must of got 12 colors on the grating. it's a tube so there's no way to see the cavity. also read this to on the laser faq Blue light from the electrical discharge will also pass out of the mirrors as a diffuse glow when running. No, you don't have a blue HeNe laser!

Yes, you're fine by the sounds of it. The mirrors will pass blue, so you'll have a blue glow coming from the aperture - just a result of the discharge in the tube. To test the health you need to look at the bare tube and the colour of the discharge down the bore.
