Dear all !
I tried several diode lasers from ebay ... but i al almost upset ...
the laser bandwidth is to large.

I read about the DJ532-40 greeb laser diod of 40mW from Thorlabs.
It seems that it has really 40mW and this power is really at 532nm

is there some one who has tried it before?
is there some one who has any idea about a real 532nm laser (that the power is delivred at 532 with a narrow bandwidht)

thank you a lot

The bandwidth, as in the spectral bandwidth? How narrow are you looking for?

Don't imagine anyone here has tried those - however - Thorlabs are reliable, they provide lab equipment to labs all over the world. You can trust their specs.

Edit: Just noticed they don't specify the spectral bandwidth - you'd need to contact them for that by the looks of it. Even if anyone here had one it's rather unlikely they'd have the equipment to accurately measure that.

Dear Diachi !

Thanks a lot!
Yes, the spectral bandwidth. In fact, i have contacted them, and they answered that they did measur eit, and it is lower than 30MHz at 60mW! what it means that it is much lower than 0.01nm ! what is really very nice!

I am using these laser diodes for Raman experiment, so i need something that emits most of its power at 532nm to expect some nice signal and good resolution.

Please, do you know if there is some other diodes cheaper (less than 100$) with good spectral bandwidth? (1 nm for exemple ?)

all the best

Any cheap 532nm DPSS that is TEM00 should have a relatively low spectral bandwidth - at least relative to straight diodes. Problem is they are cheap - the spectral bandwidth won't be listed and the manufacturer won't be able to tell you what it is most of the time as a result. But on the plus side, you can get 532nm modules for cheap so if it isn't quite narrow enough then you haven't really wasted much. I think you'd be fine with on of those cheap eBay 532nm modules though really. Throw in a heatsink for better power/mode stability - DPSS can get real picky about temperature.

May need to throw in an IR filter on the cheap 532s if IR leakage would cause an issue for you.

I'm not sure on the best source for cheap 532nm modules - someone else will know.
