Hello I am new to the forums, but have been lurking for a while now.. I'm tired of small eBay lasers so I've been looking for a new one in the $100 range.. I read on here that this laser was pretty good and just wanted to confirm with some of you people.. I am a pretty big newb when it comes to this, just want some advice. thanks

This is the laser.. Miniature Laser Pointer Shoot Bird High Power Blue Laser Pointers 500000mw 500w 450nm Burning Match/Burn Paper/Dry Wood/Lit Candle/Burn Black Plastic + 5 Caps Flashlight Laser Pointer From Power1991, $81.68| Dhgate.Com

here's the same from another website.. 5000mW Blue Laser Pointer (445nm) | Buy Blue, Red, Violet, Green Laser Pointer

and here's the thread I saw about this laser.. http://laserpointerforums.com/f38/w0w-laser-really-cheap-92073.html

What do you think? Thanks for your help, much appreciated.:D

"if it's too good to be true, it almost certainly is."

Those lasers are crap. Extremely higher listed output than actual, and you have to be lucky to have one survive longer than a month. Most of the time their output is around 1 watt, maybe 2 if you are lucky, but the diodes are overdriven and end-of-life (pulled from a used projector) and won't last long at all. The build quality is almost awful. Chose wisely, and pay the little extra for a good quality laser

Thank you, that's why I'm here ;) Where could I get a quality blue laser with possibly a Starry cap to go with it? I'm in the US.

The human eye is very interesting, did you know that most of your detail vision comes from a tiny space called the fovea, it's in the center of your vision.
Lots of tiny receptors.
They have evolved to protect themselves, they have the fastest chemical reactions in the human body.
If too much bright light hits them they bleach out protecting themselves, but blue light will not trigger the protection, blue light and purple are the most dangerous to our eyes, chemical damage can build up and blindness may not happen until the next day.
Do yourself a huge favor and wear the safety glasses.

Indeed, so what about my 5mw and 200mw 405nm UV.. It's pretty bright from 10 feet on white material's.. Is that something to be cautious with or is it not powerful enough? Thanks

Some lasers say 5mw but are really more than that, if you are using a 200mw 405nm laser up close you should wear safety glasses, beware of reflections.
If you have glow in the dark paint on a wall and you want to move the laser making shapes it should be ok if you use a 5mw laser that turns out to actually be 30-40mw, but anytime you are not wearing safety glasses you are doing so at your own risk.

I would not look at the dot of a 200mw 405 up close without safety glasses.
