Well, I guess we'll know in 4-6 weeks.

The SLA thing makes me want to mount handles on a 10 watt argon and shine it around.

"HOW'S THIS FOR AN ALIGNMENT TOOL?"

LOL I hear you --FDA laws, rules, and regs are a complicated maze. Maybe you could get a "variance" for that 10W Argon activity!

I disagree. They had no problem telling me no it would just say no we can't ship to the US. And also why would he say I'll let you know when we can ship?
Like H2O said we'll find out in six weeks.

You could be right. To me the response you got is common of the polite and indirect way the Chinese living in the West say things much of the time especially to potential business customers--doesn't require doing of anything and doesn't hurt to say will let you know. If what you want is not available, maybe you will buy something else.
What they will be willing to do and risk for a the couple of hundred dollars they will make in 4-6 weeks time that they are not willing to risk today, if anything, remains to be seen.

From: Import Alert 95-04
it says:
"In order to remove a firm from detention without physical examination, information should be provided to FDA to adequately demonstrate that the manufacturer has resolved the conditions that gave rise to the appearance of the violation, so that the agency will have confidence that future entries will be in compliance. For example, when appropriate, the request should include information for FDA to adequately assess whether the manufacturer's quality control and testing program is in compliance with the Electronic Product Radiation Control Act (Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act, Chapter V, Subchapter C) and 21 CFR 1010.2 and their laser products comply with the Federal Performance Standard for Laser Products (21 CFR 1040.10 and 1040.11). In addition, under 21 CFR 1002.10(k), the importer must provide other information CDRH may reasonably require to determine whether the importer is in compliance with the Electronic Product Radiation Control Act and applicable standards."

Even if CNI successfully gets FDA to remove them from Import Alert 95-4 (a.k.a Red List) does it make sense that they would go back to the practices that put them on the list in the first place?

A thought -- get a PGL-H- 589, 50mW or 80mW module directly from CNI since they said the would ship those to USA and get either LPF member "sinner" or another member to make you a custom host for it.Would be far nicer and better than a CNI host. Sinner's new ones are exceptionally nice-- see: http://laserpointerforums.com/f48/new-additions-sinner-v1-phobos-ms-envy-s-more-93552.html . Is one way to go.
