Actually I was going to say laser 301 which I would say is a decent eBay one, not compared to sflasers or laserbtb.

Well, 301s surely have terrible, terrible quality control. But still, they are good for starting lasers, but only that.

Yes, he should get a 301, some good safety glasses, and then save up for something better.

Or a not-so-decent one, like a 301 laser - those are usually around 50mW, but they are extremely cheap, around $10-20 apiece.

But keep in mind that are made from parts of the lowest quality possible.

Yes, I am quite aware of that. That is why they are good for starting lasers.
