Hey everyone,

Just spotted on the Wicked Lasers site.... Wait!

30% off the Inferno laser advertised at 500mW+, which is £86 - ($139.96)

I've paid over £40 in the past for a 220mW red laser from Odicforce.

I'm really tempted on this one, I want to review it see what we can do.

Anyone on here got one of these yet? not seen many videos or reviews on it, I'm REALLY surprised kipkay hasn't got his grubby hands on one yet.

Thoughts? is it worth it? I'm really tempted to get it. I know WL's have bad rep, etc etc. But I've never had a problem YET.

$140 for 500mW red laser is bit too much in my opinion, since it can be built for half that.

But you could say you're paying for a cool host. Spyder III isn't a bad laser host by far.

Personally, the WL products aren't half bad. It's the company that I have a problem with and their marketing strategies and gimmicks. Also, bit too high prices, but if the outside aesthetics are very important, then I guess that's worth it.

Depends what you want it for.

Is it because of the host?

The smartswitch?

Just the fact it a WL

Otherwise it's a waste but looks cool and there are a few review on YT.

The Inferno is pretty much the only WL offer that makes sense economically - unless you're a fan of their hosts.

It has a corrected beam. On other diodes I'd say that's not very important, but those red diodes have very crappy line-like beams. The Inferno's beam looks a *lot* better than anything that most people around here can build for $140.

I haven't seen it personally, but Smeer (I think it was him) posted a very nice review with comparative pictures.

I'm very, very tempted to buy one.

Wicked Lasers is known for selling extremely underspec lasers. It may end up being 300mW or less. But it is up to you man.
I'm just repeating what I've heard from others.

I personally think that's a great deal.

You can't really buy optically corrected handhelds on the market, plus the host is cool.

For $140 I'd say there aren't many offerings out there for the same price.

I have yet to see an underpowered WL laser as of late... unless it is defective completely (which yes happens to every company no matter which company it is)

Seems like a great deal to me, yes it was Smeer who made the review (and received some fire cuz he likes WL and made a review on a not bad WL product. Get over the old times)

If you want to spend your money on just the host and not the quality of internals... Then I say go for it ! Also forget about customer service and don't be surprise if you receive a call from your bank agent. Thare are other good sites that sell lasers for less and deliver good internals. One is one seller here in lpf selling all kinds of it ! Look and you will find.

I couldn't resist.

I had to order one for £97 it's a steal IMO..

I love the host, and I still love my Artic Spyder 3!

I will post updates once shipped etc...

Plus on the checkout, I saw a server about the safety of lasers, they include a free lens kit if you answer correctly

I am really intrigued by the open source EVO.

Wicked Lasers gets a bad rep from a lot of forum members, but in my opinion, it's time for everyone to start evaluating them for what they're doing today, rather than holding on to old narratives.

Frankly, I don't see any of this forum building access control safety features into lasers and drivers. And though there have been some open source initiatives, this Bluetooth function built into the EVO seems to have beaten our forum to the punch in terms of smartphone integration. I haven't looked at reviews of any of the above, but in terms of innovation alone, they're doing some neat stuff that is pushing their builds forward. We have a lot of innovation on this forum in terms of host design, but our electronics are reasonably stagnant. We don't even have readily available mode enable drivers (which is crazy, because the technology is right at our fingertips from LED drivers).

Mini rant over :)

I think the EVO is also an interesting idea, although rather a luxurious and not very useful addition to a handheld laser :p

Great looking laser---is hard to argue price at the WL discounted price.

Corrected beam and all.

JetLasers gets $385 for almost same sort of look but better host and bulid with many other features--better quality overall but...
