I suggest doing abit more reading to have a better understanding. I was once like you too. Check out these three links

DTR for diodes and drivers https://sites.google.com/site/dtrlpf/home/diodes/445-m140-didoes
Mohgasm LLC, Have you experienced one lately? for drivers and sometimes Just add diode kits
Jayrob for hosts and Just add diode kits http://laserpointerforums.com/f39/jayrob-build-kits-lenses-other-stuff-listed-here-44227.html

Once you gather all the components, all you need to do is piece together the host and solder two wires together.

IMO new/junior members should post a pic of their safety glasses and a note with their forum name and date if they want to purchase a high powered laser. Would give them higher chances of someone selling to them.

I'd prefer to wait until after at-least 2 separate users have successfully received lasers from any company in Australia before I'd attempt buying them.. It's not worth the hassle

Just curious by pointing it out on the forums wouldn't the Australian Customs then check the incoming packages by these companies. I've successfully received a 5mW Green Laser Pointer from a company but if I point it out then maybe next time it won't work so well.

Everything is x-rayed. As you can imagine customs workers don't keep an eye on the screen 24 hours a day like they're supposed to. Sometimes they may get distracted. You were extremely lucky, Doesn't matter where it's from. If they see a laser, They'll open it and meter it.

As above, its all hit and miss. I had a 5mW seized in the past
They even opened and inspected moh's aurora c6 just add diode kit.

Just wondering, if they have opened a package and found a laser but with no batteries or instructions stating its a laser and no info on what battery it will use, do they still go out of their way to test it? E.g. if the unit ran on 18650, 26650 or something, would they get one of their own batteries to test? Also they might risk damaging the unit itself etc.

Good point, I think someone has to try it out, wink wink nudge nudge. Jk.

Why would they open the JAD kit, that doesn't make much sense, its basically a torch

That's really weird! Yeah, I've wondered that as well! I've got a couple of JAD kits coming from Jarob... twill be interesting to see if they open them!

Oh yea, try not to order things with lasers as they will confiscate the lasers but won't return the other items, had this happen a few times. I hate customs, I really do

I never have, and never intend on importing full lasers through customs. I'd actually like to persue that as a career path in a few years!

I have only ordered ebay pens, no point even ordering an expensive laser because the chances of it being taken are too great.

What career are you thinking of?

lets see if the lasers i've ordered come thru *fingers crossed*

I honestly hope they do come through for you also. By the looks of it you are importing a 2W Laser Pointer and a 1W Laser Pointer right?

Hopefully it both gets through. But if they come in through different days and the first one gets caught you'll get a warning letter. If the next one gets caught they'll find you or put you in prison. :(
