It looks like it's not flying, so it's not UFO. Problem solved !

To me it looks like some sort of beacon on a hill/object buried in fog. It's not a dot and it's too steady to be a blue laser imho.

It says they are 30k feet up, there is a darker object posted there with a blue light coming from it... Military Hot Air Balloon Craft?

Check the combination of blue ball and red hazard light. It's unmistakably the hotel.

Oh, the show in which all of the unimaginably large possibilities and branches of evolutionary path towards intelligent life boil down to different number of bumps on forehead?

We have dismissed that claim.

They had different looking aliens... some anyway :p

What annoyed me are the eyes, and bipedal locomotion :tinfoil:

Me, heh, everything annoyed me in Star Trek. I watched some Voyager as a kid but lately, it's just frustrating, the lack of coherence.

Out of all the fictional universes I have had to chance to explore, Mass Effect was the one most coherent and developers really went out of their way to bring authenticness to SF, down to splitting races to Dextro and Levo amino acid based, planet descriptions that appear accurate, all the details. That's where the devil is, right?

You take that back right now!!!! :twak::gun:

I admit Voyager has some galaxy spanning plot holes, but even so it remains my favorite Star Trek.

For realism I read books... in a book no consideration needs to be given to how to put an alien on screen, and the cost of some makeup, vs thousands for CGI :)

Personally it annoys me to no end, that in every alien encounter, the language barrier is overcome with such extreme ease. Star Trek Enterprise series attempted to deal with this to a degree which was nice, but still, it's not quite there.

All the movies and most books I read, still tend to assign fairly human motivations to the behaviors of aliens... most still make for a decent read though. I'm currently reading through Peter Hamilton books, he at least tries to address this.

On screen I have a feeling to the majority of the public out there, having true "aliens" would not make enough sense :(

Language barriers... yeah I'll admit Mass Effect also skipped over that, though there are occasional references to universal translators and with everybody having something called Omni-tools on their hands it kinda sorta makes sense.

Ever seen District 9? Language issue was pretty well covered there.

Peter Hamilton you say? Gimme some reccomendations, I'd love to read that, sounds good.
