xxxfires definitely aren't all bad, just much more likely to be a junk, faulty battery than an AW. I dont want to chance my house burning down. And I have seen a noticeable difference in brightness on my lasers that I used to use xxxfires on and now use AW's.

I got all my AWs either from members here or on Lighthound. Shipping prices are a little high from lighthound so order in bulk.

I think I will look into bulk ordering of AWs once I have the funding. That's down the road a bit though. Too much already went into whats listed in my signature to keep up building at the rate I have been lol.

Ain't that the truth bro. Every time I read about a new diode or a new lens I end up digging myself a deeper hole....

I have vowed not to spend anymore on lasers until I can get my LPM and start a selling thread so I can fund my addiction

You said no other configurations but I'm not sure if this counts: do you have lower power buck drivers available to use, like maybe 400mA, instead of the 1.2A mentioned for the DIY kit?

Ah, sounds like someone wants to make an LPC-826 or an S06J build

As far as I know he does not have any others but I may be wrong so he can confirm either way.

I just did some more research and it appears that many A- and M-140 diodes tend to not lase until well over 400mA, so how about 600mA instead of 400.

And no, I just don't want/need a laser that much more powerful. If I could get one to output around 150mW I'd be thoroughly content, that should be plenty for lighting matches and popping balloons, just the gimmicks for school science demos is sufficient.

I would look at the single mode 450nm Osram that DTR sells. It's designed for lower power and puts out around 300mW at best. Single mode diodes also have beyond superior beam specs.
