Any of the batteries listed will work well for the 50mW laser OP got.

The argument was mainly over Brenner trying to shove his batteries everywhere. They might be great batteries but personally if I do order a pair, I'll order them from somewhere other than him.

Imo for a beginner, new to lasers a decent quality, protected battery, is the best choice though.

Yeah. I've been reading his other threads and he does seem to JUMP at any chance to push his batts......But they are the best price even on E-bay for the 3100 Panasonics.

I guess as long as he isn't mislabling them or selling known lesser quality batteries or other unscupulous practices I'll end up giving them a try. If they don't power up the lasers as good as the IMR's at I'll use them in my torches.


Now to find the best 10440's for my overspec pens!!

At $3.94 each x 4 plus $1.71 shipping for under $18 I'll be able to play with all my pens and try the IMR's if they ever come available.

Wow, for all these years others an myself included have been duped into buying recycled Panasonic's!! Boy, how do they (AW) make 18650's in 3 different chemistry Panasonic never produced? Geee, how do the folks at AW turn them Panasonic 18650's into 26500 and 26650 etc and a bunch of others sizes Panasonic has never made?....Stumped
I'm going to have to find the guy on LPF with the Big Arse Banner and buy Panasonic's, before they become AW's.

There are no AW batteries, they take Panasonic,(older models Sanyo) cell > install PCB and sell it as AW. People are misinformed that there is some special AW battery . WRONG.

18650 AW cells are Panasonic or Sanyo (now the same company).

Nobody is talking about 26500, 26650, or any other cell.

Why does a sanyo 2600 have more capacity than a sanyo 2800? Did they not charge the cells correctly? They don't state how they measured capacity, because for each manufacturer it seems to vary by cell model these days... Makes it hard to gauge which is "better" and which is showing more capacity by discharging to 2.4V or charging to 4.3 or 4.35.

Either way, you cannot go wrong with an OEM cell that was manufactured under strict controls and guidelines. Add a protection circuit for even more reassurance. AW 18650 are generally re-wrapped OEM cells. Both Brenner and Larry sell OEM cells too.

I have had good luck with the Protected version of the Trustfire Flames 3000mah (Link). They have received pretty good reviews by those who test batteries. If you have the patients to wait (very slow shipping) they can be had for $11.70 for 2 batteries (shipped). These aren't the very best batteries but they hold their own against the name brand versions.

Of the good quality budget chargers I'd go with a Trustfire TR-0034P (link) ($17.90 shipped) which will charge 4 cells independently or the XTAR WP2 II (Link) (17.99 shipped) Both will keep your batteries at or below the magic 4.20 volts that will extend your batteries life. For a well touted but much more expensive charger go with the Pila IBC ($45.00), it is considered the best and safest charger in many circles.

Personally I am a big fan of the XTAR WP2 II charger. They consistently keep your batteries below the 4.2 volt threshold, they come with adapters for various size batteries and it comes with a 12 volt plug to make it portable.

I hate to revive this, but I want to point something out. At the site (lighthound.com) mentioned above, they carry several different batteries. I purchased a set of the AW unprotected 18650 2200mah for my 50mw Green from Lazere.com. This was advised by a member in this thread, and I'm super happy with the advice. $6.79 each plus shipping, and had them in 2 days. They work great and didn't cost too much. I've already ordered 2 more sets from them. But tonight I noticed something. . .

About the same time, I bought a Power Rock 50mw Green that came with one of the UF 18650 3000mah that is protected. It's junk compared to the AW's, period.

Now, here's the kicker. . . . On that same site that sells the AW's for $6.79, he sells the UF EXACTLY like I have for $11.99. Now, I got the crappy UF included FREE with my laser and it is only $3.99 for an extra one. Or, you can buy a 2 pack for only $6.99 shipped from Amazon.

So, if he sells the superior AW's for $6.79, why does he sell the UF for WAY WAY more than the AW's or the exact same UF's from anywhere else??
