Smile my m140 at 1.8 amps

After my first blue a-140 got bad using a direct drive with an lm317, even with capacitors and everything!, I decided to buy another blue from DTR, this time an M-140, with an x-drive included and the copper/al aixiz from DTR as well.

Located in the Dominican Republic, with only a few years here and a very few tools, not counting the hard to find what you need if not impossible in this country...

I had a small CPU heat sink with a fan I was planning to use, but wasn't sure how because I couldn't find aluminum to make a holder for the aixiz, I finally managed to find a piece and found a way to install it.

I was very surprised, used to the lm317 and a lot of heat I had to dissipate driving the laser in 12v, now the setup does not even get warm at all, so the heatsink could have been less than half and would have worked perfectly, the x-drive is amazing and covers all the range of voltages I'm planning to use.
Normally I drive it with an old 12v NiMH battery pack from one of my diving lights.

so far I pushed it to about 90 seconds without even getting warm.

by the way, I made the focusing ring out of a plastic cap from a water gallon , works great, I was worried trying to find something I could use to avoid burning my fingers.

so, here is my setup, low budget, no tools (literally done with a saw and a drill) with the gallon cap adjustable ring for focusing and driven at 1.8amps.

Is not like the hosts made by the guys in this list, but works awesome

Turned out very nice with only a saw and a drill. O, and paint the cap black

Awesome. Glad it worked out so well for you.

Yes the X-drive is one hell of a driver with all credit going to Lazeerer for developing and making these available to the community.
