Appreciate the update for sure. Knowing what is going on, even if its not what you want to hear is better than nothing.
I never tried to COD anything from China. Might be interesting, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
Money transfers? Nope! Any transfer out of the US has a $60 fee on it from most banks.

How many were ordered qumefox? PP should at least be recoverable on a dispute. If it came to it, the PP fees could be split among the buyers if it didn't raise the cost to much. It would be determined on how many each person ordered. Say if 100 were ordered and I got 10ea, I'd owe 10% of the PP fee.
Might see if they will take a MO and airmail it to them signature required.

Re: SF-BW512L 12x BR sled GB *CLOSED* *NOW TAKING PAYMENTS*

Money order is little different than a wire transfer. Nothing stopping them from just cashing it and not sending anything. I have three ways i'm willing to pay for this. Paypal, credit card, or COD. The first two gives me recourse if it never shows up. The last lets me not have to pay for it until I receive and inspect them.

And pretty much all alternative options i've looked into seem to end up with about $50 worth of fees.

The main problem here is i'm dealing with a local chinese seller who normally doesn't do much international sales. I'm still waiting to hear back from 'Miss Vicky' (how the english speaking person the seller directed me to introduced herself heh) on the COD fees through EMS. I already know what UPS and FedEx charge.

Dealing with chinese suppliers can be difficult or difficult at the least.
Chinese CC....I busted a gut there. How many US ppl have one?
MO do have little recourse when going overseas.

I have my CC and a "chump" low amount checking account attached to PP.
I pay via that, selecting the source" and very seldom have any fees. What ones I do are usually quite low.
I don't know how many were ordered though and that price may have a large fee.
I know you wouldn't lie abt it.

Edit: I counted 30 diodes ordered in the OP. If the PP fee was $50(worst case?) split and added to the cost so you aren't out I figure $1.66 per sled increase.
Personally I'd pay that "extra" to keep the GB viable. The person that ordered 10 may feel diff.

Nah. I can eat $50 if I have to. I advertised $60 so that's what you'll pay. If I take a loss because I didn't do my homework well enough first.. oh well. Part of doing business. Some people wouldn't hesitate to go.. 'Oh. I couldn't do it at that price.. it'll be X.xx more instead.. I don't work that way though.

And I don't like other people paying for my hobby :shhh:. Especially since you've done the leg-work.

Count me in for an equal portion of the losses. If I'm the only one, then it's $25 each ;).

Well I finally heard back. EMS doesn't offer international COD, so paypal is the only option now. I'm just waiting on a paypal invoice from them to see the total to know where I stand cost wise. I'm hoping the fees aren't too horrible, since this vendor has other components like drivers, diodes, etc, that people might be interested in. They have complete lasers too but i'm not sure i'd want to deal with the legalities of handhelds, even though I know the issue could be sideskirted by having them partially dismantled for shipping and invoiced per component.

Not surprised on the COD.
qumefox, people just appreciate the work it takes to do a GB I hope. I never did one for lasers, but doing all the stuff it takes is time consuming and can be aggravating.
It's not like you misled anyone. They said they'd take CC's. Who would have thought it would only be Chinese ones? I would have been having a few words with Miss Vicky abt kissing some butt if they wanted any future orders.

I've had them on Skype before for some product designs and they will sit and shake their head yes and either don't understand, don't tell the truth, and swear this is what they will make to your specs. Then ship what they wanted to all along. Frustrating.

Heck, if I'm willing to pay $60 for a sled, $2 more isn't a deal breaker for me.
Sometimes things out of your control happen and this looks like one. You aren't asking for it, I'm offering to pay my portion of the fee.

Re: SF-BW512L 12x BR sled GB *CLOSED* *NOW TAKING PAYMENTS*

Most of the credit card thing has to do with fees and actually getting paid from the credit issuer. As I said. This is a chinese local merchant i'm dealing with. Kind of akin to, if not exact, one that has a storefront shop in a market.. They aren't a shop that does lots of international trade from what i've gathered by talking to them. I'm sure they don't take credit cards issued from outside china because in their business there simply hasn't been the need to deal with the fees involved. And from what i've heard.. internationally, this isn't a rare practice. VISA and MASTERCARD are systems and standards. Not credit issuers. The credit is issued by a bank somewhere.

It's not really that much different from how checks work as far as the vendor payment side. And would you take a check issued from a foreign bank that had no presence in your country?

Like I said, the problem was mine for not being specific enough in my questions originally, not theirs. I'm thankful these people are willing to deal and work with me. I know if the situation was reversed, unless I was guaranteed lots of repeat business, I'd probably think the situation was probably more trouble than it was worth.

AWESOME!!!!!

Now I just need to have the patience to wait for them to arrive at your residence, and then wait again for you to ship them out to their respective destinations. Of course this is how it is and will always be with GBs....just excited, that is all... :)

Excellent. Can't thank you enough for organising this, qumefox. And personally speaking I'm more than happy to pay my share of the Paypal fees.. in fact I will insist :)

It's not needed. This GB is still on budget, although barely. So long as there aren't any unexpected import duties or anything at least.

Re: SF-BW512L 12x BR sled GB *CLOSED* *NOW TAKING PAYMENTS*

Ok people. I have a working tracking number, so 'something' is on the way to me from china now. heh. It was shipped via EMS so I don't really have an ETA. I'll give updates when it actually makes it in the country, etc.

This place also had 405/445 m9x.5 lenses cheap too. I added 5 to the order to compare them to the aixiz ones I have. If they turn out to be the same I can probably redistribute them for a few bucks less than aixiz if there's any significant interest.
