Ok, so first of all I am more of a laser projector type of person :p I have been a member at PhotonLexicon for quite a while and I am sure a few of the members here will speak on my behalf. I currently have a group buy going over at PhotonLexicon that I would like to open up to everyone here.

Here is the information from the original post (with a few edits):

1) 15mm^3 473nm PBS Cube $30
2) 15mm^3 650nm PBS Cube $30
3) 15mm Diameter AR Coated (reflect blue and green pass red) $30
4) 15mm Diameter AR Coated (reflect blue pass green and red) $30
5) Dichrohic 2-Axis Mount (accepts 15mm dichros above) $30
6) Dichrohic 3-Axis Mount (accepts 15mm dichros above) $40
7a) Dichrohic Kit - (includes 1 each of the AR Dichros and Two 2-Axis mounts) $105
7b) Dichrohic Kit - (includes 1 each of the AR Dichros and Two 3-Axis mounts) $120

NOTE: These mounts have a Thread Per Inch count of 100!!!!!!

I think the title of this thread gave away the surprise... But there it is! Prices listed are if we achieve the quantity breaks below and do not including shipping costs.

I know its a lot of different products, but I figure the more we get into this group buy the more the shipping cost can be diluted.

Quantity: just like the first time we need 50pcs of each type of PBS cube.
We also need 50 of each type of dichrohic for the price listed above.
The mounts we need 20pcs of each type as our minimum.

These quantity breaks should not be hard to make. The most difficult to achieve I would imagine is with the PBS cubes.

Please post or PM your order to me. I will go into payment details once the group buy is nearing completion, and I will PM everyone already *in* the group buy at that time.

The dichrohic kit discount was an idea offered by Bridge as a special for us!

Also, if particular item(s) do not achieve the price break quantity in about 1-1.5 months I will:
a) Contact Bridge to see if the quantity we currently have is ok.

-If not O.K.-

b) Post the options available (most likely to drop the item, split the order -which would increase shipping costs- or keep waiting for buyers) in this thread and take a poll to find the majority ruling of what to do.

Please only put your name down if you definitely want the number you ask for, as this really needs to be binding. Pulling out at the last minute will probably ruin it for everyone...

If you need any clarification please post it here or PM me.

Thanks!
-Max

END OF ORIGINAL POST

The Original Thread can be found here:
photonlexicon.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3670&highlight=pbs
I currently don't have permissions to post links so have fun copying and pasting :D

Which includes pictures of the mounts and dichrohics. Please note I am not trying to get you to join PL, I am merely trying to share this information with everyone.

Please PM me or post if you have any questions or comments. I will do my best to get them answered as soon as possible.

Thanks everyone,
Max

Re: PBS Cubes (650 and 473) + AR Dichros + Mounts

No worries.

PBS Cube - Polarized Beam Splitter Cube
It is meant to split a randomly polarized beam into two components. Vertical and horizontal. The best part about this optic is it does the exact opposite when used in reverse. You can combine two beams 1 horizontally and 1 vertically polarized into one random polarized beam. Thats how you can get 400mw plus red lasers that are not DPSS.

Dichrohics (Dichro)
Are pieces of glass used to combine more than one color beam. They are not polarization dependent. So you can use the above dichrohics to combine a Red, Green, and Blue laser into one white light beam.

The mechanics for the Dichros are the mounts, you place the dichro into it and you change the degree slightly by using the screws on the mount. So you can align the beams with high precision.

Let me know if this helps or you need some clarification.

Re: PBS Cubes (650 and 473) + AR Dichros + Mounts

Hi Max,

I'd like to see the images of the GB items but don't want to join another forum to do so. Can you attach them here?

I'm interested in the full 3-axis kit. I was going to get some Edmund dichros for an experiment I'd like to try, but these are much more reasonable... the mounts even more so.

I'd like to know a few specs however, and Googling "Bridge Optic Dichroic" got me nowhere... :-? Would it be possible for your source to send us an image of their Dichros' transmission curves? I've attached one below which is a composite of the 3 Edmund dichros' curves with laser wavelengths added for reference.

Also, do these mounts have set-screws long enough to mount the 12.5mm Edmund dichros ?

Thanks, CC

As far as the transmission curves go, it is Saturday in China now, and Bridge tells me he will get them to me on Monday.

Here is the other Dichro.

Mlitpack,

This is an excellent GB. I see Bridge is really taking off with supplies now!

Ok, I have done a test on his dichro's in the Reviews section here... they are EXCELLENT! A great bargain for the price! :D :D

Also, when I got mine, he didn't have mounts available... I would like to see how well they perform against some of the ones I've got here... ;)

Thanx;

Thanks for the pix Max!

The mounts look great and will suit my purposes perfectly. No rush for the transmission curves, next week's fine.

Sign me up for a 3-axis kit please! I'm a noob at this group buy thing so let me know when the page goes up.

Cheers,

Thanks! Coming from you the God of Group Buys that means something haha. Everyone here can just call me Max. And yes Bridge is doing it all now. He has dove into the industry, and is really busy, but he constantly strives to provide quality. More power to him!

As far as the mounts go, I am interested as well. But I have a lot of faith in them since the quality of everything else is so high. Well for example (I don't have the equipment to test dichros to the full extent so from what I have heard) the dichros that he has, I would have expected a bit less than EO and other companies. But from what I have heard, his Dichros are right up there with the rest of the competition. Daedal I was going to link your review of the dichros here, but I cant seem to find it :-/

Curiously_Coherent I added you in! I will post information about this GB closing when its nearing completion. I will also get PMs out to everyone involved.

Sound good?

Ah, okay, I think I understand. One more question, exactly what would I need to create a white laser? Do I need two dichros, and which ones?

Thanks

You will need both dichros to make a white laser and 2 mounts (you are best off buying one of the 2-axis or 3-axis kits - 3-axis are easier to use)

You will set up the lasers like the picture below. The white diagonal lines are the dichros and mounts. The one on the Left is the Reflect Blue dichro and the one on the right is the Reflect Green and Blue Dichro. This is one of several layouts you can have with these dichros. Probably one of the most common. The red and green lasers combine to make a RGY beam. If you have analog modulation you can have ROYG (red orange yellow and greens and anything in between). Then you add the blue light with the third dichro this will make an RGB laser, which will give you 7 colors with TTL (Red, Yellow, Green, Tealish, Blue, Light Purple and White the deeper the blue laser you have the deeper the purple and teal colors you can get).

Finally the drawing in the white side of the image is how you use a PBS cube to combine 2 reds. The diagonal thing here is a mirror. Note that one laser has to be Horizontally Polarized and the other Vertically. This way you can get about 300mW of red with great beam specs from 2 - 16x burners with room to spare.

JUST A SIDE NOTE FOR EVERYONE! I spoke to Bridge about these prices again, he said all these prices he is giving us are VERY low, as an introductory price! I know I am saving up to stock up on these optics. We will be hard pressed to find prices like this in the future.

Just as a reference here is the info on a PBS cube from Edmund Optics:
BS CUBE STANDARD 15MM TS
15mm x 15mm $115.00

BS CUBE POLARIZING 632.8NM 15MM (High Efficiency)
15mm 632.8nm NT47-125 $175.00
