Hey guys, after fixing some contact problems on the driver and a short in the tailcap, I finally got it to work.
But as I screw the tailcap on the host, the laser starts operating and I cant switch it off by using the switch

It's the S4X Host from Gary by the way

Best regards
Phil

Your tailcap is not fixed. sounds like your switch is bad or you have something making the connection.

Hello Phil,

Have you tested the switch to see if it opens and closes or if it is stuck closed?

Hi,
S4X,
My s4x tail didn't work also but a good thing you can disassemble them to see what's going on. It might be an easy fix.i played with the switch for a while but I got it to work. Be patient and see what's going on inside it first.,there's not much to the switch it self Pal.

I talked to Gary and he said that it could be fixed by exchanging the white plastic washer in the tailcap with a brass washer, he'll send me the washer

But I have no idea how this would help? Any smart explanations? :)

Hi S4X,
That was the trouble with mine, i had to take that white washer and sand it down thin on the bottom to make contact. The switch come apart easy and there's not much to it, give it a shot and play around with it. Try sanding down the washer first little at a time .

I sanded down the first insert but I think I did it a bit too much
After that, there was a short and Gary sent me a new insert for the tailcap. Now I'm afraid that this will happen again, think I'll wait for the brass washer ;)

Hi ,
Try cutting a piece of electrical tape to fit the bottom of the white washer. and try insulating it make sure when you assemble the switch that spacer is centered correctly.

Love how members tinker and rig stuff up. The minds of people that always think ... "well, what if I do this ....."
